Nandy, did you say darn it when you hit the jack? If so you are a better person than me....I think you should hit all the teeth the same amount of strokes, both sides. If the cutters are shorter on one side your cut will curve, but then I'm not the best at filing....Lanny

I may be way off base here, but has anyone ever thought of making a meat smoker that fits over the stove pipe on an owb? Seems to be a lot of heat and smoke going to waste. I was thinking of a smoker you could put on just to cook and then take it off, any thoughts guys?

How about this one? Keep a self igniting map gas torch by the stove. It's great to jump start a stubborn fire and great to start a draft in a smoky stove. Just point it at the flue, pull the trigger , and instant draft.....Lanny

Just an update, we are going to turn a 3/4 bar down to 5/16-24 and screw it in the tapered shaft . Leave a short section 3/4 for the lovejoy, add a keyway and VERY carefully tack it together. If we don't warp the shaft we think we'll be alright. We'll let you all know if it works out...

My son and I are building a bigger splitter. We have a 16 hp briiggs with a tapered shaft. Anybody know where to get a lovejoy motor coupling for such a beast? If we have to we'll get one modified by a machinist buddy. Any ideas would be appreciated....Lanny

That's what I intend to do, burn it. This tree is at least 36" at the base, a good 20 foot log to the split. Hard to pass up on your own wood. Just curious aboout it's value as firewood. Thanks....By the way, whats killing all these sycamores so fast anyway?....Lanny
