More dyno action. 100 octane vs 92 octane

Here on the leftist coast I found a place that sells a "sports blend" of 75% 100 LL AV gas and 25% tolulene. I mix that 50/50 with 91 octane gas and my saws seem to love it. Any try that combo yet? Tolulene I believe is an octane and BTU boost. Another benefit is the gas lasts a year and still...

    McCulloch Super Pro 81

Thanks Mark, I'm still cutting and selling firewood, 98% with my Huskies, but not as much- I got a promotion at work and.....well saws got put on the back burner. Glad to be back, my SP81 still runs great even with stock ignition, jug and piston. Not sure what the compression is, but starting it...

    McCulloch Super Pro 81

That was several years ago actually the service was good. I think I have heard others say they had a problem there but I didnt. I didnt spend much I only needed a couple small things. Ebay proved to be a better place once you knew what exact parts fit what and had an IPL to confirm....

    McCulloch Super Pro 81

I had some luck with Randys Small engine repair. Also get yourself a IPL, many parts on macs fit others saws, clutch, etc. Check Ebay, had good luck there too.

McCullouch Super Pro 81E Value...What's it Worth?

Heres my one owner SP81: It was never sold. My dad worked for MC and brought it home to work on. They laid him off. He FORGOT to return it. Thats was 1976. Old saws are the schitt IMO.

McCullouch Super Pro 81E Value...What's it Worth?

89cc motor? I run my SP81 with a 28" bar and it rips. The SP81E is only worth about $50 though due to a bad design of the piston return spring and muffler bearing. Where should I send the $50 to? Just kidding its a great saw with electronic ignition as I recall, not points like mine. In nice...

Please explain bar size and advantages/disadvantages

I run my 372 with a 28" bar. Makes limbing and cutting on the ground easier, less bending over, easy on the back. IMO more chain mean less frequent sharpening too. I would run anything less than a 20" on that saw, whats the point I cut 24" pine stumps all the time, I have a 357 for smaller stuff.

    Husky 372 fuel issue

Well I didnt need a magnifying glass to find the problem. After changing the impulse line with no results, I carefully pulled out the fuel line: Right where the line comes out of the tank and does a 90 degree turn to come thru the carb floorplate I found a large hole. I repaired the...

    Husky 372 fuel issue

Ordered a tank vent filter, fuel filter, fuel line, and impulse line from Baileys. $19 before shipping. Should be a cheap fix, and I wont have to worry about that stuff for another 5 years or more.

    Husky 372 fuel issue

Thanks guys I used the supplied fuel lines instead of getting new ones, looks like that decision is biting me in the ass now. No ethanol for me (except for beverages) I use the good stuff it lasts forever.

    Husky 372 fuel issue

I'll replace the lines and get back. Thanks for the help. BTW the Mac has never had the lines replaced, carb rebuilt or engine even cracked open. A couple clutches, sprockets, misc small parts thats it.

    Husky 372 fuel issue

Ok impulse line draws a vacuum make the carb suck its own gas. I will check the impulse line. The problem existed before I yanked the fuel and impulse lines off so although I suppose I could have damaged the line I was careful and doubt it. Sound like new fuel and impulse lines are the next...

    Husky 372 fuel issue

So fuel dripping out of the tank hole causing the problem? To be honest I'm not exactly sure how the impulse line works. It pushes air into the tank forcing fuel into the carb? But that doesnt sound right either, I know the tank has to vent. The fuel filter could be clogged, but when I blow a...

    Husky 372 fuel issue

The gas is good. Not sure what an inlet needle is. I squirt carb clearner in the carb it fires runs and dies. Etc. Not spark related. I pull the gas line off nothing is there. I believe the gas line seals the tank by being tight in that little hole. It seemed to drip soem fuel out past the fuel...

    Husky 372 fuel issue

My 372XP, bought used from a member here and rebuilt by me suddenly has a fuel issue. The saw has been running great with no problems, and had been sitting for about 3 months when I went to start it yesterday. Long story short it will start if primed with fuel, will rev perfectly then die after...

    Help to ID firewood

Yes there was juniper, pine and grey barked Chinese elm in there too. The seller told me there was euc and oak in there, I told him politely that there wasnt one piece of those in there. So he was no help, he had no idea what kind of wood he had.

    Help to ID firewood

I recently scored a bunch of firewood for cheap, most of which is this dense, heavy wood. It splits OK, a few pieces stringy but most clean. It is pale yellow inside, with a very few pieces light orange here and there. Its from a road clearing crew here in the high desert, so I'm guessing it...

    wood splitter suggestions

Fiskars makes a hydraulic splitter?! I have a Fiskars ax, and its nice and all, but seriously he said he has a bad back, regardless a real splitter is where its at. My 22 ton Harbor Freight has gone thru about 40 cords now and will split just about anything. Find a used one and save $$$.

    Paying for firewood

Using gasoline to help kindle a fire

Someone here suggested using a map gas torch and it is the TICKET. 30-60 seconds and your fire is going, as long as you are actually using good kindling and know how to build your kindling pile.
