    Fix or Sell

The 360s are pretty similar, but they have tank assemblies and handles. The oil pumps are gone. If anyone wants that 660 just PM me. It spins free, the piston is toasted but I think the cylinder could be saved. Looks all OEM to me.

    Fix or Sell

I cut a lot of wood with that 365. The new owner is doing the same. It's pretty much moot anyway, since I would be using the OEM cases and cylinder that I already have. After thinking it over, I think I will build the 460 with a Huztl kit and throw the rest on Ebay. Won't be making any money...

    Fix or Sell

It's either that or spend double the value of the saw on OEM parts. At least with the Huztl kit I know that I have everything, there is just so much missing from these that it would be a huge pain to source everything separately. This is the photo of the 460 and 660. They are pretty much...

    Fix or Sell

I may sell the rest and rebuild the 660. I don't really need another one but could still make a little money on it.

    Fix or Sell

I know it. Auction fever got ahold of me. The models were not advertised, I knew they were all pro saws, and that two of them were likely pretty large by the size of the dogs. Worst case I could get my money back on Ebay, but trying to fix them seems to be a losing proposition. The OEM cases...

    Saws or Guns?

Guns. Chainsaws are just a tool. I've been screwing with them for a long time but never saw them as anything more or worth collecting. For the most part guns will only appreciate. Especially Milsurps, which are drying up more and more by the day. Even Mosins are bringing good money now, much...

    Fix or Sell

I used a Huztl crankcase on a smashed 365XP that I rebuilt last year, I doubt you could tell the difference between it and OEM cases.

    Fix or Sell

I got a little carried away at an online auction and bought a pile of junk for $300. In the pile are two semi-complete MS360s. I will probably just throw these on eBay and get what I can for them. I also got an MS460 and a 660. Both pretty much just assembled crankcases. The pistons are...

    Need an Autotune Carb Update/Reset

I suppose that is a possibility. I'll pop the oil cap and try again. I figured the smoke was from the AT dumping fuel to correct the lean condition. Does an update really fix issues like this though? Doesn't seem to me like it would start acting up all of the sudden, when it never once had an...

    Need an Autotune Carb Update/Reset

The saw is still mostly assembled, the muffler is on, can't really see the case seams. I figured if it had a bad air leak it wouldn't hold pressure hardly at all. I planned on replacing the ring. Do these carbs cause issues like this? Do they sell kits for them? The decomp was plugged not long...

    Need an Autotune Carb Update/Reset

I finally got some adapters rigged up and pressure tested the saw. I pumped it up to 10 psi and left it for an hour, down to 8 psi. Seems very passable to me, the leakage was probably through my janky plugs. Any other ideas? It was terribly hard to start, had to run it on full choke for a few...

    Need an Autotune Carb Update/Reset

The dealer that I bought it from is Amish, don't think I need to explain that one. I'm sure they have a way of getting these to a computer, but I might as well go right to the source. The other dealer close to me has less than stellar service.

    Need an Autotune Carb Update/Reset

Bought my CS2252 (Husky 545) new in October 2014. It's been flawless until recently and developed a terrible bog and poor starting. Started investigating, found that when I removed the air filter and cupped my hand around the carb inlet, and sprayed ether just in front of the carb around the...

Facebook buy, sell or trade chainsaw and parts groups

Just makes it that much easier to sell 'em quick, since my stuff is usually priced pretty fair. Been watching the marketplace lately (got a couple that will be ready to sell soon), and have seen the same stuff here. Does make it harder to find a decent deal though.

    Case Splitting Questions

It's already apart, I just bought the splitter. I played around with it some last night, tried to heat the bearings a little and did get them to slide on, but I had some trouble keeping the rod where it belongs. Had to take it back apart once, and the chinese bearing is already rough. I ordered...

    Case Splitting Questions

Got my shipment from Huztl last week. Case splitter worked like a charm. What's the best method for assembly? Heat the cases/bearings and freeze the crank? The huztl case came loaded with bearings and seals, but I'm hesitant to use them, unless the quality has improved. Should I just get new...

    Case Splitting Questions

I probably won't do that many, but it'd be nice to have the tools. I went ahead and order the C-clamp tool and cases from Huztl. I'll check the bearings when I get it apart, the saw is in good shape, I just didn't know if the process of pressing the cases apart ruined them.

    Case Splitting Questions

Got a freebie 365xp that the previous owner dropped a tree on. The recoil and clutch cover are toast, oddly enough the top cover is fine but the case is busted around the rear A/V and cover mounts. I've never been into one this deep before, is it worth DIYing a tool or should I just buy the...

    Best all around saw?

I think the fact that you want to use it from a ladder (which is not the best idea, FWIW) limits you to 50cc or less. That in mind, Stihl 026, Husqvarna 55/350/346. Honestly I would rent one, saw up your trees, and buy a pole saw.

Stihl ms 261 vs Husqvarna 550xp reliability

You would need a super thin O-ring to seal the groove on a 5 series air filter. I tried cramming in a standard o-ring once, wouldn't fit. The filter on these is not like the ones pictured, there is a groove around the opening of the filter, which slides over the lip on the intake horn. O-ring...
