    Dying Live Oak.$$$$

Sounds like the tree is sentimental to the owners. Who will do what they can before removal.

what chain to use on MS650 mag

Welcome to the site. Allot has to do with personal preferences, type of wood, and how you run your saw. You could do a search for what is on your mind When I asked about some thoughts of 650, not many replies. Since it is what we have at work, it usually gets the job done. Any thing...

what chain to use on MS650 mag

If the 32" bar full skip cuts awesome, as you stated then why change it?

    044 binding in 20" pine

I just lay it flat on a straight 2x6 or 2x8, softens the blow some so the bar doesn't get dimpled where the vice edge that is touching the bar may. Use 6x6 pieces of wood for straighting out mower-blades as well, except I heat them with a torch first.

    044 binding in 20" pine

Was thinking the same thing. Have had a couple new bars than needed some attention, from paint needing to be reamed out to re-drilling ports in the proper area to function properly. At this point I would remove all debris from the track, oil ports, and check that the gap is consistent all...

    I could use a hand

So if some kid shows up with a sticker on his new hat, new kick, etc. and drives a BMW with some gleaming MoMo's he should be a hard worker....Sorry but a daily vehicle is a machine that need to work not a silver spoon that hangs on a shelf. Chainsaws should be shinny and new looking since...

    Port A Wrap

We lay out the rope to full length before it is wrapped in the portawrap to prevent tangles, snags, etc. as the rope is being run through the portawap and lowering intended objects. The process is done for each piece for safety reasons, and also gets any twists out at that time. If there is...

What part of the bar to use?

Welcome to the site Aled Owen First Use the chain brake when you are done with your cut, in the vid it did not look like you used it at all. It is a good habit to have, ever see a chainsaw rev up on its own (most do when running out of fuel). Trade your sneakers in for steal toe boots/or...

Remove barbed wire from Oak trees?

What do you plan on doing with the tulip? 25 years since last cut, someone may be interested in cutting your land. Inquire with a forest manager, see what is recommended. I use it for firewood usually mixing it in, burns hot great for fall and spring stove drafting. Seasons fast but will...

    white oak burl..

Any pics. of the pieces, something is causing you to keep the trade route open. Are you cutting the burl or setting aside that section of tree with the burl?

    Port A Wrap

Yesterday he was worried about the branch hitting the house or boom, truck fully extended directly under fall zone. He knows about the running the wood. I have seen him run wood when he worked the ropes. The piece I ran was on the trunk of one of the trees being removed away from the truck...

    Port A Wrap

Funny reading all this. Opposite problem when working the ground, gritting my teeth and shake my head when ever I see the rope being shock loaded on the jobs. I was instructed on a 110'+ tall 5'+ diameter red oak, whole tree was shock loaded :dizzy:. You know how much a 20' piece of 4'...

Felling poll - Have your say

Where is?: Rope area off area & take it down in sections due to the hazards listed. The aerial view does not show the interlocking sections of the trees/palms. Thus making it impossible to cast a vote on the options listed.

28" bar is starting to loosen up/break in...YAY!

The paint may have needed to get worn off, and bar lubed with some oil. My powermatch bars are usually a little tight when brand new. Couple of rotations of the chain, paint wear and the saw apply some oil they seem allot smoother. After cutting a couple of things they glided like they should.

Need Suggestions on a new Saw

The 026 is a great saw and more than capable to handle a 10 cords of wood a year. A great saw to learn what a professional saw is all about. First thing I would do is make sure the saw is tuned in. Set to factory setting, adjust from there. Second is learn to sharpen the chain and rakers...

Question for the people who deliver wood.

Life must be too good for that driver to refuse. With the 4wheeler and the mercury moved any truck could back in there. What is the charge for a load there?
