Stihl MS251 Wood Boss - Oiling Issues?

If I rev up my older MS250, within a few seconds it would toss a noticeable oil spray - but this MS251 won't. How do I tell if the chain oiling system is working correctly on my new saw? Thanks for any opinions/assistance, Guys! BarnieTrk

What older model chainsaw has the most durable engine?

I don't have much to contribute, but - I was raised running my dad's Stihl. Then I bought a lightly-used MS-250. It cut alot but I was on the hunt for a bigger saw for bigger wood. I ran across a non-running 041FB. My local Stihl dealer got it running, new 20" bar and aggressive chain...now...

    Wear those chaps people

Todd, Don't feel to silly - many of us have done that....including me. And the chain oil doesn't speed the healing either. Soak it in some warm, mild salt water at night for 20 minutes... chin up! BarnieTrk

What brand of 2 stroke oil are you using ?

I would bet more saws are injured by too lean of a mix than by what brand of mix they use.....

Post pictures of your woodpile/splitting area

Straight grained rounds like that are simple to reduce with a splitting maul....and you don't need to lift them off the ground. If they have big knots in them, then they might stay in the woods! :)

Anyone have a picture of a Stihl 011 ? :help:

Yes, Yes it does.... But the more I think about it, the more I look at the pictures of the 07 (which is way different), the 08, the 08s, 5-10, 011, 011AV - the more I think the saw I'm remembering is an 08 saw. In three weeks, I'll be able to go up to my Dad's place and see if I can find...

Anyone have a picture of a Stihl 011 ? :help:

Fellas, I really appreciate all the help with pictures and links!  However, none of them match the image in my head. I've been doing the 'Google search" thing as MnSam suggested to no avail. What I did run across though was a picture of a Stihl 08s....which appears...

Another Stihl goes in the shed

Well, I had to stick my head in here and share the news: I've now added a Stihl 041AV to my "collection". The story is that I had asked my Dad if he still had the 011 that I was 'raised on' and if so, that I'd buy it from him. So when I saw him this past weekend, he brings over some ol'...

Replacement handle grip for old saws ?

Brad, WOW! Your Stihl 076 Super looks like a never-fired, brand-new saw! SHARP! Thanks for the link on the shrink tubing... I just might try it myself on my 041! Or, I might see if I can locate some of the black 3M Grip tape that JohnDirt82 mentioned. Thanks for your tip too...

Replacement handle grip for old saws ?

Maybe locate some of that Plasti Dip Grip Rubber Coating used to dip tool handles in. Bedliner material might work well too. BarnieTrk

    Forester bars?

Well, Guys, I just thought I'd report back: Sunday, I went through 2 tanks of gas mix with my ol' Stihl 041 Farm Boss with it's new 20" Forester bar & chain cutting some ~26" diameter, Ash (I think) that has been dead for so long all the bark has fallen off - Man, that wood was HARD...

Hey Fellas, Does anyone here have / use one of the Fores-ter Saw Bags? http://ahlbornequipment.com/commerce/product.jsp?prodId=1157&catId= I'm thinking if I could pick one up for $20-$25, I wonder if that ol' Stihl 041FB would like to sleep in one of those or not? I know Kingsley...

    Forester bars?

Thank you very much, Keen! :yourock: Yeah, I was reading on here where some folks have experienced Forester chains not lasting as long as they thought it should (soft). Since I already have it, I'll use it... I'll get a new file, keep it sharp and keep the oil going to it... so maybe...
