Stihl guy is gonna buy a Husky

The thread started very positive but then ended with a 461? Talk about a thread going into a spin.:dizzy: Quick, chop the engine… full rudder… forward pressure on controls!

Ms441 disappointment or is it just me

I was thinking that to myself too, and why pinch pennies on a 441 when you can still get a new 440?

If HONDA made a line of chainsaws.......

Honda makes a great small engine, the Amish use them from balers to pumps. I have a 13hp honda on my Dosko stump grinder, that thing is 100 percent reliable. Kawasaki makes a fine enduro bike, I got the KDX out one last time before the snow hits.

Sell or sit on em for awhile?

    What if you got both?

Sell or sit on em for awhile?

I've had a Madsens XPW still new in the box for years, it's right next to a NIB 440. No plans to sell either one.

    My First Flippy Cap Incident.....

Flippy caps are over engineered yuppie gadgets. They make a great saw look silly and feel like crap. Most people hate them, so how long is going to take Stihl to finally listen to the end users?????

    Sighting In A Saw

Use a scope with tritium iron sites front and rear for backup.

    Three Cube Shootout!!!!!!!

Nice job Randy, thanks for posting your results. I ran a 261 at last years gtg and it was plenty good on power, but it just didn't feel right. I'll stick with my 346's.

    top 5 must have saws

I'd say the "must" of the must have saws would be the 372/2171.:hmm3grin2orange:

    Having the right tool.......

I was wondering how you did that. I suppose a boring bar would be too tricky.

    Having the right tool.......

Lathe question: Hey Randy, what's your tooling for cylinder work?
  13. brncreeper

    What lathe?

I've got Heavy 10 that was given to me, tooling and everything. Took all my Bobcat 310 could give just to get it unloaded and in the garage. Well, later I come to find out the bull gear is missing a tooth and the chuck is stuck on the spindle:cry:. Still, 200 bucks for a new bull gear isn't too...

What saw is the best? Husky, Stihl, McCulloch, Homelite, Echo, Pioneer, Dolmar?

Certain Stihl's are great saws, I'd never get rid of any of mine. However, some Husky's are just too fast, snappy throttle, good feel, good looks, just plain fun. That's why I voted orange.

Can we start a best looking saw thread!

660 is a good looking saw, even after a hard days work.

    372XP or MS 441 M-Tronic?

It would be a cold day in hell before I trade my 372xp or 372xpg's for a 441.
  17. brncreeper

    The 441's

    lmao!

    10 Years...

congrats!. Speaking of 10, last week I acquired a 1947 South Bend Heavy 10. The bull gear had a broken tooth as the result of a stuck chuck. Ordered a used bull gear today from South Bend - $200. The spindle is out, trying to figure out how to get the chuck off.
