Homelite XL hard to start cold

Absolutely. I've rebuilt / cleaned numerous carburetors on small engines for neighbors and friends who use gas with ethanol. I run e-free in everything except for our daily driver vehicles. I'm lucky to have 3 stations that have e-free.

Homelite XL hard to start cold

My solution to this is a diaper like my micro is wearing. An old tee shirt in the bottom will contain the dribbles.

Homelite XL hard to start cold

Yep old thread, but it's mine that I started and 3 years later I'm finally addressing the original problem with the hard starting issue. Got that solved with a carb kit, but now the leaking oiler has me :chainsaw:..........................

Homelite XL hard to start cold

I've never ever drained any gas powered equipment when not in use. My nearly 20 year old Echo weedeater still to this day will start on the first pull. As for the oil, this Homelite didn't use to leak like this. Yes it drooled a little, but it's pouring out. I'm going to try cracking the cap...

Homelite XL hard to start cold

It's leaking from the bar area. It has always slobbered after shutting it of, but this seems excessive.

Homelite XL hard to start cold

Well almost 3 years later I finally got around to this out of necessity rather than want to. I was having to dump gas in the plug to get it to fire. $5 carb kit and a half hour of my time and it's back running like at top. I replaced the duckbills on the gas tank and oil line in the tank...

    Stihl MS193T or ?????

I've looked over the 355 Echo. I'm not opposed to Echo; I have an 18 year old srm2400 weedeater that I have put a lot of hours on. It has been flawless and to this day will start on the 1st pull every time (cold) after sitting a week and 2-3 pulls after sitting all off season. My 290 Stihl is...

    Stihl MS193T or ?????

I want a new top handle 12-14" saw. Non commercial use - few hours a month. The 193 has been out a few years so what's the crowd say? Yea / nay - junk or jewel? Or is there a plan B? I'm not that impressed with my 2 year old Stihl blower. Very cold natured.

What happened to my white dogwood?

I thought it might be a borer or something that was already in it. The wounded area appears to have been trying to heal around it for some time. It has gotten larger this week. I have bought a half dozen or so trees from this same nursery. All except dogwoods have a 1 year guarantee. I was...

What happened to my white dogwood?

I planted this white dogwood from a nursery back in mid February (16'). It bloomed and had nice healthy green leaves all summer. I watered it about 5 days ago and it appeared to be perfectly fine. Yesterday I come home and find this? What happened? I'm not an expert, but I'm certain it's...

Homelite XL hard to start cold

Yeah, it's not the end of the world and should be easier without the 5lbs of gooey sawdust packed around everything. A new 192T Stihl has been tempting me but I will probably go with a $10 rebuild kit for the Homie.

Homelite XL hard to start cold

Well bummer. I had the whole mess all apart a year or two ago for new fuel lines, pull cord & air filter. Thanks for the quick replies folks.

Homelite XL hard to start cold

    It's the small XL ~ 12" bar.

Homelite XL hard to start cold

I have an early 80's Homelite XL (not a lot of use) that has been getting harder and harder to start when it has been sitting for an extended period of time. It takes 20-30 pulls to get it to hit the first time. After that it starts right up and will run all day long and restart until it sits...

Stihl MS361C - new to me

Well isn't that a kick in the pants? Guess I will take it in as much as I'd rather not. http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2011/STIHL-Inc-Recalls-Chain-Saws-Due-to-Laceration-Hazard/

Stihl MS361C - new to me

What about the dual chain brake set up? Is this a pro / con or really doesn't matter?

Stihl MS361C - new to me

I have had a MS290 for about 8 years and just picked up this very slightly used MS361C. It has a 20" bar but I want to cut some larger red / black oaks for firewood. I would like to hear what size bar you would recommend and chain type. Any issues I should be aware of with the 361?

    Chainsaw for clearing large area

Not to knock anyone, but I feel if a person has to join this site to ask what size saw they need to cut trees with some being up to 36", that person probably has no business even taking this kind of work on in the first place. 3 acres of any kind of trees is a whole lot of trees. Even if you...

    Stihl TS400

Yes on all of these items except switching the carb out. For all practical purposes it should be a "new" saw for what I've done to it. I used it Saturday and it started and cut like a dream for the 10 - 15 minutes I was using it - until I let it idle down and die, then it would not start back...

    Stihl TS400

It's been a while since I talked about this saw and this will be the last time before it goes on down the road to someone else's garage unless I can get it to run right. If you aren't familiar with this I'll catch you up. Rebuilt the saw with new piston, cylinder, crank, bearing, all gaskets...
