    Crazy about Creosote

I havent had to clean the chimney in years. I usually go outside and stick a mirror in the cleanout door before I fire it up for the season to make sure there are no bird nests in there. It stays pretty clean. My stove pipe on the other hand is 6 feet long and has two 45's and needs to be...

    does anyone else do this?

Nothing like the smell of 2 stroke, but I still aint keeping the saws in the bedroom. My wife laughed at me last fall when I bought a new snowmobile jacket. The first thing I did was run outside with it on and fired up both sleds so I could stand in the smoke. Had to break it in properly. :)

    How'd you do?

Well you got me there. :) The truck hant ran since about the end of October so it isnt costing me anything right now. Somewhere in another thread I did figure up how much my gas bill was for saws, truck, and splitter, and it was less than $100 for the whole year. That chevy burns more gas in one...

    Best Log Splitter?

The best splitter in the world is the one that gets your wood split at the speed you wish to get it done at, with as little effort as possible. I think I am going to ad a log lift to mine and a chair to sit down. My lower back is getting bad if I bend over for a long time.

how well does your splitter start in freezing weather?

I just ran mine last weekend. It was 5 below, and it started on the 3rd pull. I did just put a new engine on it this spring though. Last year once it got below 40 degres out you would just forget it.

INPUT on LIFAN engines sold at Home Depot

I have a 13HP Predator from HF on mine. Bought it last year and it has been perfect. I just ran it today to slip up some red oak at 5 below and it started right up.

need a new wood stove now

Well I ended up going with the Daka from Menards. We started smelling smoke in the house again the other night so I took the covers off the old Royal and found another huge seam split open. I couldn't let this go on any longer so I called menards and had them raise the debt ceiling on my card...

How's your wood pile holding out?

I threw the rest of what I have in the basement last weekend. That included a load of slabwood that I picked up a few weeks back in case I ran low. The way things are going this year that will probably get me through the 1st week in Feb. Think I am gonna have to make another trip down the road...

Introducing Brand New Wood Furnace to Market - The Drolet Tundra!

Let me get this straight here. I understand that this is a bad design, and all of that. I will not be buying one until the problem is resolved as well. Here is how I burn wood and have done so since as far back as I can remember. Every night when I get home from work the first thing I do is go...

    Are You A Husky/Chevy guy....or Stihl/Ford Guy ?

Stihl/Chevy My bro-in-law had a Husky once. Had to take a tool box with him to keep all the screws tight so it wouldn;t fall apart. I am a mechanic by trade at a used car dealer. I get stuck working on everything. The chevy might break more often but it costs a fraction of the money to fix...

need a new wood stove now

Well I have toadmit that I started reading that thread, and got bored so I skipped ahead to the last page where there was discussion of thermostat problems. need a new wood stove now

I managed to hammer out a patch, and weld it in place for now. This should get me by until warmer temps come. The seam had split wide open and left a huge hole under the rail for the fire brick. Been doing a little reading and giving some serious consideration to the Drolet. What is the...

    Crunchy ashes?

I burn Elm almost exclusively and I get this a lot. Mine usually has a green tint to it. Never really gave much thought to the stuff.

need a new wood stove now

Yes the curved pipe is the inlet air. It was originally just a 2" long pipe with a 3 bolt flange on it with a forced air blower fan on it.. The heat from the stove kept burning up the little blower so when I rebuilt it I added the curved pipe to get the blower a little distance from the heat. I...
