Okay part Stihl 1121 1128... good news with the little tweak to the handlebar it is working flawlessly, ran the saw for about 30 mins, after getting it tuned and runs awesome, cuts like a monster.

I am going to take it off tomorrow and check it out.

I think I will replace that linkage with a new one just in case it is warn... only other option.

Okay so new brake handle installed and still same issue... not enough travel to disengage brake.

Found new old stock on ebay $32 guess I cant ask for anything better.

So buy a used one on ebay that may be just as bad or buy chinese, anyone have suggestions?

That was what I was thinking, but did not want to spend money on it if it was something I was missing... thanks all for the help.

if you could measure the slot in the handle the linkage goes in maybe that is warn, but it does not look to be. Anyone know the part number for the brake handle?

Maybe I should explain better... chain brake on (chain brake handle forward) if I pull back to try to take brake off it will not disengage, brake handle hits handle bar before it reaches the point to disengage. When I place something under where the yellow arrow is it gives it enough to...

I should point out it was to get it to disengage

To get it to engage I placed a piece of broken piston ring where the yellow arrow is pointing.

Here is a pic of brake handle pulled all the way back to bar.

The brake band was still in the saw, I guess it could be the wrong one... It is a half wrap bar. I placed piece of old ring in the slot of where the linkage sits in handle and it engages fine so I am guessing its either wrong brake handle or just warn out... Thoughts?
