By your description I would clean up cylinder and replace the piston. One thing this saw also needs is a muffler mod the 261 is very restricted. The one I worked on for a friend I replaced the ring on the piston and opened the muffler a bit. Man did that thing really come alive after it broke in...

My dad has 009 Stihl when I cold start the 009 I just take the back cover off and use my thumb as the choke. Usually starts in a couple of pulls. Then I shut it off and put the cover back on and restart and go to work.

They did not even blur it like to do normally do with saws they show. Like I can't tell the difference between a Husky or Stihl. There was the 7900 with close up that I could not believe. This show normally shows so much mechanical harvesting and trucking. Nice to see some chainsaws being used.

Looks a lot like a Jonsered my 2045 looks a lot like that. Except for the recoil cover.

If the saws in question have a lot of hours of running more than likely just needs a new ring to bring it back to life. I would think also theirs nothing wrong with your compression tester as long as it's getting a good seal.

Ive got 30" plus on the ground where I'm at the high for today was only 3 and heading for a low of -20 below tonight. Went out on Saturday and cut when it was about 15 degrees out not to bad. Cut some ash by down by the river.

I removed the cat from my Dolmar 420 same as what you did. Sounds better starts easier runs a bit stronger. Really did not have to adjust the carb on mine.

I learned about Dolmar because of local dealer and this site. Told me to look online see what I could find out about the Dolmar line of saws. Found this site and have learned a lot more. I like my Dolmar's their some nice saws for the money.

Welcome to the site 345 Husky good little saw I picked one up that just needed a carb kit new fuel line. Now it runs like a champ mine is a 2005 model.

The chain you have is safety chain need to find some real chain. Like some Oregon LPX or Woodland pro at Bailey's.

If it's in good shape with low use like you say that would be a good deal. The Dolmar 510 a good dependable saw. Saw new would be around $325 to $350.
