    prunning little trees

is it allright to trim branches from little trees in the yard during growing season or should you still wait until it's dormant. It's hard to mow the lawn when you get branches in the face. these trees are maybe 5 years old

Is it ok for a saw to smoke??????

not possible for oil to accumulate in the case. oil dissolves easily in gasoline, the case is in constant contact with fresh fuel which would carry anything away with it that is petroleum based. I have never seen a case or crankshaft that has any staining at all from any oil.

is there a way to "practice" kickback??

100% correct in my opinion. In no way am I a pro cutter but when I limb I only use part throttle just enough to get through the limb. I find I can feel the saws action better that way. Even when dropping trees I don't always have it wide open. I want to see and hear what's going on not just...

is there a way to "practice" kickback??

I agree I use full comp with no issue just watch where that nose goes. I grip my saw with locked out arms and I hold it tight expecting it to kick even when it won't. It's when you hold it like a wimp that you'll get hurt. Holding tight redirects the force of the kick so you don't get it in...

What is wrong with my 025?

Sounds like your low speed is to lean. That's what happens she boggs when you tromp it until the mid and high speed circuits take over. If you got a lim cap on that low speed pull it off and back your screw out to richen her up. This will bring down your idle so adjust accordingly. Failing...

Worst Wood to Split by Hand?

I have to split by hand can't afford a splitter. I do a lot of noodling for the real wet hard stuff. Besides I need the workout from swingen the super splitter. I've only almost taken out a shin 3 times with supper splitter off of a deflection.

need a thin base gaket for a ms 460

Make sure you don't use acid core electronic solder. The acid will eat the aluminium of your piston. Use standard 50/50 tin and lead solder or the lead free stuff is fine too. As to how to use it for measuring that's a whole nother lesson. If you want that lesson just pm me

Oregon 7/32" Silicon Carbide Grinding Stone

ok here it is in a nutshell. silicone carbide stones are used for sharpening carbides and non ferrous materials such as brass copper etc. Aluminum oxide is for steel and alloys. Spending money on silicone carbide to sharpen steel chain is a waste of money and you will put more heat in the...

    switching case halves

I don't know it will be some dumb engineer that made the call on that one. Ive worked with mechanical design engineers and they make a lot of assumptions. Most of them don't have a lot of hands on experience out on the floor, they are just good at engineering theory and calculating stuff out...

    switching case halves

technically you should never mix case halves. They are machined at the factory as a mating set. This keeps the proper tolerance for bearings and sealing rings where they contact the case halves. You could do it in a pinch but I would not recommend it on engines that rev 10 000 + RPM. stevo
