8 HP Kohler "Cast Iron Line" engine for band saw mill?

I’ve got a 12hp Kohler on mine and it struggles. Have to cut very slow. If you drop the rpms in the cut it’ll ruin your board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Skid steer or tractor best for moving logs?

Pros and cons of both. I only have experience with a tractor but have been lusting after a skid steer for a long time. At the time of orchard a tractor made more sense to me but it’s very frustrating to not be able to see the forks. Especially when stacking bunks or slabs. Sent from my iPhone...

Skid steer or tractor best for moving logs?

Depends on the terrain and log size. I have a L4701 Kubota that’ll lift about 1600lbs and I’m often left wanting more. The mill parks next to a “loading dock” so I can just roll heavier logs on. If I didn’t have other needs for a tractor I most definitely would have gotten a skid steer instead...

Anyone used a chainsaw sharpener to sharpen a bandsaw blade.

Been doing it for years. I fact I’ve used the same 20 or so blades for at least 5 years now. Simple modification. Band gets turned inside out for sharpening. I reset it teeth offsets as needed as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Can anybody here do a carbon fiber clutch cover.

You can get hydro dipping kits on amazon for pretty cheap. I don’t think they have a very steep learning curve either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    history of chainsaw bars

Bow bars are still very common here in the PNW with Christmas tree farms. Guys use them to plunge, flush cut the Christmas trees at ground level. I’ve never tried one but I see guys using them all the time. I suppose it’s easier because There so much foliage close to the ground. Sent from my...

    Not so Merry Christmas

I’ve often woken up at night fearing my saws have gone missing. My wife thinks I’m crazy but the truth is they represent a large investment of time and money. Many would be too cost prohibitive and/or time consuming to try and replace. I beefed up security in my shop and now I sleep better at...
