    6 spline vs 7 spline

I would love to see .404-7 or a 3/8 rim to fit.

    6 spline vs 7 spline

The short answer is Homelite was idiotic with the 6 spline drum. Sure limits your options. I've only seen .404x8, 1/2, and 7/16 rims for 6 spline. They might been doing the farm equipement thing to make you buy all their options. Like IH and the fast hitch. If you find a 7 spline drum, hang...

    Sp125 leak?

That weep hole is for the points box, so any oil can run out. As long as the inner seal holds vac and pressure, you're golden. If plugging that weep hole stops a crankcase leak, then the inner seal is bad. My S550 has the same setup and I found the garter spring popped off and wore the crank...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Finished this yesterday. Had to completely go thru the greaseball. Covers are little rough but it's solid. Came to me with a 2:1 gearset but I found in my stash a complete 3:1 set with the proper oil pump.

McCulloch S250 Headache...or maybe heart attack. What to try next?

I always wondered about having an oil pump inside the fuel tank. Mcculloch was the only one to do that as far as I know. Good catch, that would have driven me nuts. The little cap you are referring to, is that welch plug?

    Clinton chainsaw mod#D35 1103A(HC11A CARB.)

Did you change the needle/seat? This carb will the use the same parts as an HL. But I couldn't say which exact assembly without inspection. Original style lever will have a forked lever that grabs the needle. If the needle doesn't hold back pressure and constantly leaks through, you will...

Homie 360 diaphragm by spark plug NLA, help?

I'd change that boot. Picture is blurry and dark but it doesn't look the greatest. Homelite made them from terrible material. I've seen Stihl 045 and 031 boots that were 30+ years old look new and even Mcculloch boots still holding up and being 40 years old. Homelite boots like to disintegrate.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Nice. How about the piston pin bearings? 62867 and 62868. The ones I used came out of another NOS piston and I'd like to replace them.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Checking around, but I am hoping to find some standard bore thin rings, part # 58353, for my 895. You could drive a truck through this gap. Manual says it's supposed to be .004 to .012. If I strike out with OEM, I'm thinking about trying some Pioneer thin rings.

    Withdrawn Mcculloch bar stud

Looking for 1 bar stud for a gear drive. Looks like any of the large frame gear drives can supply that piece. 55 on up to the 895, any 1-6x series, and a 640. Part# 51631A PM with what you have. Thanks, Chris B.

Clutch won't come off (Homelite 7-29)

Like I said, don't forget those bearings in the pulley hub. Also, it is possible to have the wrong washers under the crank nut and you could be contacting the hub causing it to drag.

Clutch won't come off (Homelite 7-29)

That's a thick shim. Original is, I suspect, closer to 1/32" thick but you may need more than one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/363890139669?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=NftINRqFQZu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=G3VGR0obRKC&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Clutch won't come off (Homelite 7-29)

The shim needs to be just thick enough to keep the pulley off the spring cover.

Let's see a picture of that saw you built. My curiosity is piqued.

Good thing I kept parts saws around.

Clutch won't come off (Homelite 7-29)

You mean the pulley rubs the cover? Could be any number of reasons. Is the cover dented? Does the pulley wobble on the crank (there are 2 needle bearingsband races in the hub that need grease and can wear). Is the pulley set out too far? There are shims right under pulley that you remove or...

    Pioneer chainsaws

Thanks. I was happy to find the NOS HC. Heard about last year, took awhile but I contacted the owner eventually and made a deal. Even more, he had a 2nd which went to a big-time collector.

    Pioneer chainsaws

I found this tidbit in the owner's manual interesting. Conversion parts for an HM to HC. The only thing I feel the HM would benefit from is the HL carb. The rest is cosmetic.
