    Old Chainsaw Pic

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. It's a shot of some German soldiers felling during WWII.

How did you become brand loyal?

I started in my teens with an old 041. After that it was a few more 041's and a 076. That old girl was like a cinder block. It's all we had on the landing for a weekend at the time and I was a kid on the landing so I got to run that one. Super strong and powerful but by the end of the day it...

got a new stihl. my cancer is cured. lol.

Josh, I bought my 361 in May of this year and love it! After about a dozen tanks you won't believe it! Congratulations, now, uh, these guys are correct about your future. I've been saving for a 660 now, although I don't need one I sure do want one.

Why do so many slam the MS290 ?

Never had a 290 but as far as this site I've learned a lot. Mostly positive but, the other side of hanging out here is expensive. When I discovered this site I had a little Poulan wood shark and an 038 Super. Been here for a little while and added an MS 210 as a limbing saw, an 031 just because...

    soapstone woodstoves

I've been running a Woodstock soapstone for the last 6 years and love it. They are at woodstove.com. Anyway, before that I had a Lopi cast iror stove and yes, the soapstone certainly does take longer to heat up but also continues to heat long after the iron is cool. If you haven't spent a...

Annual thread...Who is burning wood now?

I've had it warmed up for a week now. 30's at night and 40's in the daytime but thats pretty normal for here. Weatherman said it'll get quite a bit cooler next week. Life in da U.P. I love it here! :D

What chainsaws do you have (or, why are you here?)

I came here to learn about the saws I have and now I'm looking around every corner for another project to buy. I've learned that you can survive on ramen noodles and put the money to good use like another saw! Thanks guys (I think) :)

    031 is finally restored

It took a while and some parts, (carb kit, Ignition, paint, bar, chain, top handle and AV mounts) but it's finally finished. I want to fine tune it and rip into a nice juicy maple log soon. It won't surprise you guys that have done this before but I was astonished at how much time (and money) it...

Famous Annual "I Really Heat With Wood"

I had the propane tank removed over 5 years ago. Been burning wood ever since. I have an electric wall heater in the bathroom and am going to put electric baseboard in this winter but I don't expect to use it at all.

    My New MS361

Congrats Glock. You'll love your saw! I bought a new 361 in May and have been attached to it ever since. It seems after 10 tanks or so the saw wakes up.:chainsaw:

Only takes 30 seconds to have a saw stolen

I moved up here 10 years ago from the east coast. I've had nothing but a great life here. The people certainly seem friendly enough to me. Oh, if ya look hard and get lucky you may land a job here that pays as well as anyplace on the "mainland." It was 23 degrees this morning and I love it.

    Sprocket on 031

Hey guys, How do I keep the piston still so I can loosen the nut on the clutch of my 031? I need to install a new sprocket. Also, will it hurt anything to tap on the wrench to loosen the nut? Thanks

    One more tree

Naw, just 8 rows wide. I wish it was 8 pallets wide. :)

    One more tree

This is what I did this summer with the hydraulic splitter. That pile is 8 ranks deep and about 65" tall. Didn't measure the length but if you count the pallets I think you'll find somewhere around 16 at 4' each.

    One more tree

So I walked up in my woods today as it was sunny with a cool breeze early this afternoon. Leaves are changing color and it smells sweet. Out of the corner of my eye I catch a hard maple lurking. Thinking it would be nice to get one more tree on the woodpile, I got the tractor and a saw and back...
