    The Beg for Manuals Thread

Howdy Chainsaw Brothers and Sisters, Has anyone got a service manual for Stihl 026 they could share? Much Appreciated! Have a great day and Saw Safe!

    Southern California GTG

Hey David B, Yep, old thread fer sure but there are probably still a few AS members here in Cali that would be up for a GTG. CHEVYTOWN got himself perma-banned but he still hangs out at SawHawgs. Paso Robles Jimmy is around, and hopefully some new members might be interested as well. How about...

Another passion of mine: Honda ATC's (3-wheelers) Anyone else into them here?

Hey Ride-Red, Nice herd of ATC's ya got there...and in such great shape! You just don't see too many that sweet around any more. We have long used ATC's around our ranch...we have two 1985 200Ms that are like mini tractors, we fab'd up trailer hitches for them and they easily haul a cool all...

    1978 Chevy 4x4

Hey Sarge, nice find! Old trucks are one of the best things a man can own...they take patience, a little love, kindness, money, time...kinda like other relationships in life worth learning and practicing. New trucks are just to be driven...you don't spend time under them greasing tie-rods and...

Should I go bigger - cutting firewood only

You are gonna LOOOOOOVE your bigger saw when you get and run it...:msp_thumbup: I run Stihls...mainly cuz my farther did. For general bucking, modified 044s/440s are the right stuff...with a 28" bar the reach is just right and easy to limb with. Light enough for all day, but powerful enough...

    ? About Chaps

+1:msp_thumbup: Get the full wraps...sure there hot, but the straps on the half-wraps will get hung up on brush and branches when yer tromping and dump ya on yer face!

    Full skip or semi skip?

+1 :msp_thumbup: At 28" full comp is a sweet deal for the modded 044/440 and the 066/660s we have. I like half skip on 36" and even 42" on the Snellerized 880. we file the rakers down a touch in softwood. The 72" bar is full skip...them chips have a long way to go thru the...

    Stump Cutting - Chain Recommendation

The oldest, most worn-out, worn-down chains ya got! Stump cutting is gonna thrash any chain...even carbide cutters...so why put new spendy chain on? Sharpen yer worst chains best you can, keep your files handy, and cut away Brother...:msp_thumbup:

Brand new 460 Rancher barely runs. HELP????

Okay, maybe the box-store sale price for the saw is lower than the local dealers...but you get something at your dealer that's worth way more than that simple price difference...expert advice, factory trained service, factory parts, and a chance to build a working relationship and even a...

    PPE??? Which to buy?

Me too...our crew uses 'em and we all love 'em...Rockman forestry systems are comfortable, the ear muffs work great (you can converse with them on, yet bring high performance work saws noise down to reasonable levels...even a ported 880) They even have an optional accessory drop-down visor...

peltor lumberjack helmet; mine is broke!

Hey Brother, I hope they make it right for ya, not a bad forestry helmet. My personal fave is the Rockman, a little spendy but very comfortable, durable, and the muffs are just right to be able to converse with 'em on, yet keep the roar of modified work saws to a decent level, even a...

    Anyone else do this?

stilhrookie, it's cool that ya like to fire up yer saws after sharpening...if it makes you happy, it's all good. Personally, my chains never seem to rust...unless it's one i lost in the woods and find again a year later...:msp_blink:

Any new MS 260 Pro's still around?

What sometimes goes on is we get "loyal" to a certain model based on the fact that we bought several of them, and now have a collection of runners and parts donors. That's why our fleet isn't as up-to-date as it could be...we have a stable of 660/066s, 440/044s, 260Pros, and 200Ts. I haven't...

what is the wrong with stihl dealers??

Sorry to hear ya had a bad experience with a dealer, I hope it works out for you. We are very fortunate, our dealer in Bakersfield is FANTASTIC. They sell Stihls and Husky, and Echos too. Super knowledgeable, and the two mechanics are masters and have helped me a lot...and put up with me, which...

Just when you think stihl stopped suprising you

Man, that's rough! $250.00 each!? ....Bandits! But when ya need new carbs, ya just need new carbs...I once got stubborn and tried to rebuild a carb for one of our 200Ts, and went through three carbs several times...accelerator pumps, full rebuild kits, parts swapping...never got the saw...

    Ms660

I agree...36" is plenty for the mighty 660, and plenty nose-heavy already. Stihl makes a sweet 36" Super-Light bar that is awesome if yer not too rough with it...and makes the saw a lot easier to run all day. Full skip chain...file the rakers a touch heavy...and cut like ya mean business...

    Professional Opinions

Our Snellerized 880 loves full skip, as it has a whole bunch of chain speed...chips fly like a firehose! With the bar buried in big wood, keeping the chain speed up is important with any saw, even the mighty 880. It has been my experience that stock 880s favor full skip and a 7-pin rim sprocket...

New guy needs a saw recommendation

A good used MS260 Pro can be had for around 400 bones, one of the best all-around saws. Buy some chaps too, if you don't already have 'em. An extremely simple muffler mod on that saw and good tuning will really surprise you...50cc's can put out a lotta punch, especially after running a...
