    Stihl MS200t muffler splitting

Just to let everyone know that I was able to split the muffler. Once I removed the screws I used a utility knife to cut around the joint and it popped right apart.

    Stihl MS200t muffler splitting

I'm trying to split a MS200T muffler. I have the screws out but they have some sort of adhesive sealing it together. I've placed it in an oven at 450 degrees and it still stuck together. Whats the secret to slitting these muffler?

    Saw rebuild break in question

I understand. I like to give them a couple heat cycles before putting a bar and chain on them.

    Saw rebuild break in question

I'm rebuilding a couple old saws I have and was wondering when running the saw when complete without a bar and chain is it alright to run them without putting bar oil in them? In the past I've added bar oil and just let them leak all over the place. Makes a great mess and was just wondering if...

Anyone have any experience with twin cylinder Onan engines?

Twin Onans fire both cylinders at the same time. I'd put in a new set of points. If that doesn't do it then look at the valves. A compression check will tell a lot.

    gasification boiler 22 cords?

22 cords to heat 6000sf doesn't sound all that unrealistic. Thats a lot of square feet and your not stating what temperature they are keeping it at?

    Building an Inertia/Kinetic Splitter

I've followed and join in on this thread from the start. I have most of the parts gathered to build one. I plan on using one flywheel from a New Holland hay baler I bought for $50.00. Right now I'm stuck on the pusher block and how to mount the bearings so they ride on the I beam in both...

    Splitter loosing power????

I say check your cylinder. My splitter would run the cylinder out and in but didn't have enough power to split a piece of wood. Ended up being the seals in the cylinder and it only costed $10.00 for new seals at a local Hydraulic repair shop (I did the work myself).

    Building an Inertia/Kinetic Splitter

I couldn't have said it better myself. I believe 300 rpm is the very high side and something around 200 rpm would be better. It also seems that the bigger and heavier the flywheels the more slower you can turn the pinion (better and easier on the rack and gear) and still have the intertia to...

    Building an Inertia/Kinetic Splitter

The only problem I see is the 21 tooth gear. You are going to have to really slow down the shaft that the sprocket is mounted to or the rack is really going to rocket out. Most builds use a 15 tooth and I think Supersplit machines 12 teeth onto a shaft. With a 15 tooth gear about the largest...

    Muffler Mod

I did my ms 310 a few years ago as per instructions I found here on the Chainsaw forum and it made a noticable difference. The saw is louder but not to the point where it is annoying and I've never had a complaint from anyone.

    Building an Inertia/Kinetic Splitter

Where did you get the flywheels. Whats there size and weight? How many teeth are on that pinion gear??

    Building an Inertia/Kinetic Splitter

That was my thought in the earlier post. Make the pinion gear the weak link.

    Building an Inertia/Kinetic Splitter

I could have been wrong on the 14.5 being better. I'll have to look up in the other thread what other people and manufactures have used. I actually bought a 15 tooth 6 pitch pinion gear off Ebay cheap a few years ago, but I haven't been able to locate it. It will pop up sooner or later.

Love to hear more about the parts you have collected and can't wait to see the pictures!

    Building an Inertia/Kinetic Splitter

Its to my understanding that 14.5 degree is stronger and is the prefered one to use. Pitch is another story. Most people are using a 4 or 6 pitch rack and pinion. 6 pitch seems to be the most common among the vendors of the rack gears.
