    Am I weird???

I don't bother sharpening chains before putting them on the saw, 'cause they usually get dull real fast when I hit a bunch of dang nails buring in the wood anyway.

Not dead yet, oh no, but close.

Hey AOD, never talked with you before, but this seems about as good a time as any. All the advice you've gotten by everyone is good advice. Do what your doc says. Likely they will put you on Coumadin, and then test blood levels regularly. A bit of advice with Coumadin: Don't drink alcohol while...

Danger of breathing in ash sawdust?

There's no doubt in my mind that breathing dust into the lungs, even sawdust causes lung irritation. That's why I always smoke a cigarette while working around dust. :jawdrop:

Funny wood tick story,DONT LAUGH !!!!

You went to the ER for a tick? I thought the ER meant Emergency Room. I worked a 12 hr shift last night, and a sampling in the ER were gunshot wounds to the head and chest, car wrecks with near amputated limbs and drug overdose. Its gettin' warm outside!

    Aftermarket Parts.

I don't have experience with piston/cylinder aftermarket parts, but I can tell you that aftermarker electrical parts are junk. I have an 021 that had the plug spring break off of the plug wire, so I bought a coil and wire off of ebay from a guy who sells a lot of aftermarket parts, and it ran...

    Homelite Super XL Review!!!!

Awesome to hear about your Super XL Bill! I inherited one from my Dad when it became too heavy for him and he took over my old Stihl. He refused to buy one of those "plastic" stihls back when Homelite still made them out of metal. SXL's are great reliable saws. I need to get a pic posted of...

I cut some today, help with tree ID Thanks.

The color looks like white oak. If it's stringy, that would be my guess. Locust doesn't have a real rough bark around here.

    How long should firewood season?

As the title says, how long should cut and split firewood season for a home woodstove? I try to cut and split wood in the winter/spring to burn the following winter. I keep the top covered during hard rains in the spring, but leave it all summer uncovered. I burn oak, ash, and hickory mostly.

    the french coffin saw...

So since it's French, does it have 1 forward gear, and 4 reverse gears for retreat? The only forward gear would be in case the enemy got in behind you!

How cold is it where your at?

It's 32 here. Ya' know, if it wasn't for global warming, it would be warmer. :bang:

    What's your favorite $50 tool?

Just bought my Father in Law a $50 Case mini-trapper pocket knife. Nice little knife, and made in USA, not china like most Gerbers.

    I got busted!!!!!!

A coworker of mine used to have that problem with his guns. Then he bought a huge gunsafe, and his wife couldn't see them anymore. Out of sight, out of mind. Maybe someone should make a huge saw safe! :greenchainsaw:

    Heated saw handles

Hey guys, are heated saw handles worth the extra bucks? No I don't cut all winter, and I don't live in Alaska. Also, how often do they fail, and whats the cost to fix 'em? I was looking at Husky, I assume Stihl has that feature as well.
  16. O

    Husky 440 won't cut.

It looks like a good saw. Swap out the piston, coil, spark plug and air filter, and it should start right up. Probably cost under $10 for the whole deal.

    Purchase Advice

Hey BigPasta, if you can afford it, get a pro saw. I have purchased cheaper saws and regretted it! A lot of guys here recommend Dolmar, but I have no experience with them. You can't go wrong with a stihl 361, I paid $540 out the door from my dealer. His price actually was cheaper than the box...

Brother took one of his piggies to market!

Update. I just talked to my brother, he will keep his big piggy if they can keep it from getting infected, and the tendon heals. He said he was wearing Timberland Pro boots, but he thought they were composite toe. I know Timberland makes several in the Pro line. He wasn't sure if the chain went...

Brother took one of his piggies to market!

I haven't heard from my bro this morning, but he made it out of surgery just fine last night. He's a big puddin'. They wanted to put in a spinal block, but he's real squeamish, so they put him completely asleep instead. I will find out what kind of boots/shoes he was wearing. He usually wears...

Brother took one of his piggies to market!

A couple hours ago, I was reading the post about Pics of the types of work boots other guys wear, and a few days ago there was the post about cutting wood wearing sneakers and shorts. Well, out of the blue, 10 minutes ago, my brothers girlfriend who I've not met yet called me to tell me my...
