    Stihl 441 vs. Husky 372/576

I've run both the 372 and 441. I think they are almost identical performers for most uses. Seriously, you will be hard pressed to say one cuts more wood than the other at the end of the day. I bought the 441 and haven't regretted it a bit. It is interesting that the 441 was dogged so bad...

    Caught the Theif

Great country, the Phillippines. Glad this worked out for you. I would love to have seen the guys face when confronted about the whole situation.

    Wood Stove vs. Pellet Stove

My parents got 2 pellet stoves 5 years ago. They still have the stoves, and they do get a little use, but they heat primarily with the wood stove they bought last spring. They use a single woodstove to heat the same space that one of the pellet stoves did. It is alot more fun to visit them...

Need help with a member pinesfarm

I really hope the saw has been shipped, but dang it took along time! Hopefully this turns out OK, but with the time involved I don't think it can ever be made right.

    chainsaws vs. guns

Both saws and guns are tools. If I had to choose which one to put on the shelf and never pick up again, which is kind of a painful thought, I suppose it would be the saws. I can and do have another way to heat my home. I don't however have a tool that would replace a gun.

    MS260 pro vs. MS390

My story is almost identical. I bought a 390 thinking it would be the only saw a man could ever use. I really enjoyed the saw, especially once I opened the muffler up. It wasn't long after that I thought about a two saw plan. I found a nice used 260. I found an excuse to be underpowered...

    372XP or 441

I've run both, but neither alot. They both cut great! I bought a 441 I think it goes better with the 260

    Lopi Flue questions.

If the stove is the issue, step up to the Lopi Endeavor. It is a great unit. I highly recommend it after 3 heating seasons. Looking forward to seeing how it holds up the next 20+ years.

    441 vs stihl 390

Great Idea, I was gonna buy a new chain, and fuel pick-up anyway.

    441 vs stihl 390

Will my local dealer put a tach on it for free, or is it something I should spend a few dollars on. My normal repair guy has headed south for the winter.

    441 vs stihl 390

The MS 390 had been muffler modded which did wake it up significantly, still I'm surpsrised. Not so much at the torque, but at the revs. Maybe it's more appropriate to compare the revs of the 260 to the 441. Theyre in a different class. It feels and sounds that the 441 spins twice as fast as...

    441 vs stihl 390

I brought home a nice used 441 last week for my birthday. The wife finally gave the go-ahead. I bought this with the intent of replacing the stihl 390 that's I bought brand new a couple years ago. I expected significantly increased performance, but this thing is a beast. Totally able to...

    441 vs 440 BB

Have we heard anything new one the 461?

Injuries or chronic problems related to wood harvesting/splitting

I feel I should chime in again here. Back braces are a double edged sword. They can be great support while lifting, especially a heavy and or awkward lift. Like big/heavy rounds can be. Don't get sucked into wearing it all the time. This will actually weaken the stabilizing muscles of...

    Ms390?

The 390 is a decent saw, especially once muffler modded. I've bucked alot of big trees with mine. If you're at all serious about cutting, seriously consider something in the 70cc range. I don't think you'll be dissapointed by a stihl 44, husky 372xp or any similar class saw.

Injuries or chronic problems related to wood harvesting/splitting

Recovery is a process This is an area where I have considerable experience, not necessarily from the pain end, but from the treatment side of things. When the daily amount of damage exceeds the daily amount of repair injury results What this means is be smart, maybe slow down a little...

    Stoves

EPA stoves don't have shakers because they don't need them. So little ash is left at the end of the day/week that it's almost a non-issue. This was one of the biggest surprises to me when we upgraded to a EPA model stove.

How much have you burned this season??

We're just finishing out our first cord of the winter. It's been cold the last week with only a couple of days getting above freezing. We've also been home alot more and so have burned more than we would normally. I believe we burned about 2.5 cords last year, I'll get a more accurate measuer...
