What Was Your First Job In The Woods

I started out cutting and splitting firewood for my grandfather. My cousin or which ever helper showed up and I would cut /stack then my grandfather would help us split and load. Lots of times we would do 8 cords per day 7 days /week. I don't miss that. We used chain saws, a supersplit, and an...

Trying To Keep Our Saws Quieter

I despise a loud exhaust on vehicles and hate a chain saw being any louder than necessary. I like the performance of modded saws but the ones I have ran were way too loud and pigs on fuel.

    95 540E gable vrs 95 648E grapple

The grapple on a 648E doesn't really hold a whole lot due to it's shape. I have came out of the woods with 2+ cords behind a 540B and I believe a 540E could do a little bit better than that. I would look for a 648G as the grapple has a better design. If you are getting a grapple skidder and are...

    saw chaps

Fortunately I live close enough to a Labonville store that I don't have to order them. Just drive a little over an hour and I am at their North Conway store. A little over 2 hrs and I am at their headquarters. Makes a nice saturday or sunday ride.

    Cutting firewood with Jonsered 2260
