    Spencer Loggers Tape

Jacob, I'd really appreciate it if you could mail it to me too. Thanks, O

    Husky 385 XP

I'm also a proud owner of a 385XPG, recommend it all the way! I don't know about Dolmar's vibration-dampening or if it has some function like "Air Injection" 'cos I think Husky rules on those two compared to Stihl. You who run 385's, how long bars do you run? Does it work with 36"? Or even...

    ATOP Racing Cut

I've never compared the ATOP with square-filed full-chisel chain - but I dare say it's as smooth but not as fast. There's actually quite a big difference between round-filed and ATOP filed cutters; The profile of the filed edges are straight, not concave as made by a round-file - which means...

    ATOP Racing Cut

Frank, Sorry for not closing the thread, but I think it was debated in some other thread... But for you, here's my thoughts: Using the guide is easy, follow the instructions and your heart and it will leave you with a smoother, faster cutting and longer lasting chain. I did two...

    square filing

Frank, I got a full-chisel .325 yesterday for testing just that! Full-chisel .325 is very rare over here so I had to order it directly from Oregon... Q

    square filing

Russ, Here's a picture for you. The file is rougly 1/2" wide. Ola

    square filing

The file I use is a 4 sided Vallorbe. Q

    square filing

Another, for me, important reason for filing into the tooth is that the raw-edge or feather-edge formed in the crome-layer will be broken off - leaving you with a sharper tooth which also makes the tooth stay sharp longer as the crome isn't rubbed back into the cutter when cutting. Q

    Spencer Loggers Tape

Well, Wiley, after some Champagne(!) I got it open, cleaned out the dirt from 1966 and lubricated it and now it's fine... Didn't realize that little nut on the back was the key to it all... Q

    Spencer Loggers Tape

I just wonder if any of you can give me some help on how to take it apart for some greasing/cleaning, as well as to be able to change the gear and tape in the future... Or is there some on-line instruction that anyone know of? Or can send me? Got it on ebay - these tapes are not of the same...

    Two colored spark plug

I use an alcylate-based fuel, the "greenest" fuel there is. It's a synthetic 96 octhane unleaded fuel/oil-mix. Q

    Two colored spark plug

Am I right in presuming I've started to run the saw on the rich side? (The darker side of the plug is facing down into the cyl...) Q

    Carb. adjustment

Russ, I think it was some article on forestapps that said the max rpms is without bar and chain - but I might have misunderstood - Never the less, very interesting stuff from you all! Thanks! Ola

    Carb. adjustment

Russ, I rely on my ear and feel. My question was raised when I realized that a saws max rpm is true for an unloaded saw, without bar and chain that is. I guess it's not that big of a deal but a saw with the carburetor adjusted with bar and chain on would actually be a bit on the lean side...

    Carb. adjustment

I just wonder if you adjust the carburetor with or without bar and chain on. Q

    Chain Issues.. anyone??

Jokers, If my opinion was that the oilers of the two saws wasn't identical, I would have said so. I think I contributed to the other readers with some info that I thought could come in handy. By "straightening things out" I merely wanted to share my knowledge of the aforementioned saws with...

    Chain Issues.. anyone??

To straighten things out a bit; The part number for the oiler on 346 and 357 are NOT the same as Jokers stated; The oiler on the 357 has a higher capacity making it suiteable for longer bars. Q

    ATOP Filed Chain

Thanks rb, I try to make the pics as clear and crisp as possible. I keep them rakers at the recommended hight around .025 .030 but I dare say filing them a bit more wouldn't present as much grabbieness as it would on a round-filed chain - Soon I'll compare it to full chisel .325, both...

    ATOP Filed Chain

I've done some more testing with the ATOP system and getting more and more out of it; Yesterday I set out to create some kick-back situations - and didn't succeed; The cutter is too sharp to deliver even the slightest move to resemble a kick-back. The pictures is of two different chains; The...

    372 muffler mod

Well, to get more oomf at lower revs that's the kind of hole you need... Mind you, don't forget to adjust the carb to run richer - One more thing; Make sure not to leave any metal debris after drilling - as an under pressure of 0.3bar is created when pulling the start cord before the saw...
