    Rappel ring

Thanks Flushcut, someone had to burst my bubble. lol  I'm not fimiliar with rappel stations but I understand what your saying. I'm using my figure 8 as a rappel ring (pull bight of rope through big hole, run biner through rope and attach to saddle). I like this much better than using...

Surprises in the middle of a tree.

The wood was stained when I split it. The whole length of the logs. It's not from the saw because it was there before I cut it. I was thinking like a needle treatment years ago? could that be possible? Dan

Surprises in the middle of a tree.

Regarding the staining. It runs up the tree about four feet. It was in a few logs that were cut for firewood. It held that exact shape too. Two oval shaps the whole way then faded out. Dan

    What could this be?

That's cool how the metal turns the wood blue like that. And the second tree looked identical to the first, same leaves and all. The weird thing is at 20" off the ground there is no red in the wood, it looks like the first tree picture. It's only that first couple inches of trunk that had the...

    What could this be?

I have some white oaks that need dropped to free up some room for a future build. Hated to do it but no choice. The two in question surprised me after I put them on the ground and started bucking. The first one had two spots of what looks like a dye, I'm guessing some kind of insecticide. And...

    large climbing saw advice.

I love my 026 when i'm up high. Can run up to a 20" and still be light weight. I hang it off my side and dont get worn out cause of the weight. Plenty of power compared to a top handle saw. Dan

    Gear Lust......

DRT/DdRT.... Good catch:dizzy: Theres a big difference between the two. I did mean to say (type) DdRT. I don't climb on Blaze, I made some split tail's out of it. But your saying that's the feel of Tachyon? I do like feel of the 24 strand. I climb on ArborPlex, And love it but for rec...

    My Climbing Gear

Stihl-O-Matic gave me some awesome advise about spurs. Take one wrap around the spur shank then go around your leg to buckle. This will keep the strap tight and the shank in place. It's much better, but you said your straps are short so you might not be able to do this..My straps are 26" long...

    Gear Lust......

As the onset of this terrible disease slowly degrades my bank account, I'm in search of another climb line. Looking at 11mm Tachyon or PMI EZ-BEND? Is there any negative to either? Do they work well with a Blake's? I've heard of people having problems with the Tachyon because it's so slick. I...

    GriGri & 13mm

I was considering a rope walking technique DdRT with the Tibloc then found out it too is only rated up to 11mm line......Why? The cam concept should work on any line. Why not make ascenders like these fit 1/2" line? Dan

    Rope protector/cambium saver

I like the idea of those conduit rope savers ! Now i'm just wondering if the local Lowe's has what I need! lol I still think I want a friction saver down the road. The kind with the metal rings. That appears to have very little surface area for the rope to drag across. Thanks for the advise...
