    10/19 – OEM 372xpw and Hairun/Farmertec 52mm Piston & Cylinder + General Aftermarket considerations

Thanks for your effort. The lower left combustion chamber looks very poor. Sharp edges and not very uniform. OEM looks good. The price of the OEM P&C for this saw seems like a bargain.

$20 Pawn Shop MS261 Pipe Saw!!!!!

That's the Ol' Fonzle It's the hopped up backyard trenching saw. Backwards rusty chain and pipe mods are the dead give away. To bad they lost the factory clamp. That's going to lower the value.

New piston in the 038 Magnum or not?

Big bore, short stroke. Replace the piston if it looks/mics out as questionable imo.

    Another eBay scam artist

It sort of looks like a Crown. Might make ones saw the "King" of the neighborhood saws.

    Stihl 038 chain brake

The brake lever on my 038 Mag rests in the engaged position like the picture in big t double's pic. ( 45 deg angle) Although it engages and disengages at the same spot at the top of the muffler and the end of the top cover. There is about 10 degrees of free movement/ slop in the engaged position.

Did you get to see the finish metal treating process or is it pre-treated before going through the dies?

    Chainsaw Acquisition Disorder

It's not cad if they all run? BAD is my real issue. Only a few share the same. Between low-pro, .325 and 3/8 plus all the different .050/.058/.063 it is ridiculous. I should have started with a better game plan. Work just gave me a free 025 in decent order. I'm only accepting free saws from...

Need some direction of choosing a Saw

Nice to see you have the saw choice sorted out. I would like to suggest proper PPE for safety's sake if you plan on being out there a couple of weekends all day. I know it is another expense but the cost is less than one stitch.

Need some help on tuning issue.

Have you pressure tested the needle and seat? I've run through a carb and had more "scooby's work their way in because I didn't flush the tank/line and filter well enough.

    Rim Sprockets and Filing Guides

Thank you for posting the pics Philbert. I can clearly see their process for both the "brazing" they call soldering and the heat treating. I know it is off track at this point but if anyone is interested I can explain what is taking place. The computerized image is of a CMM...

    Rim Sprockets and Filing Guides

Often times when a product is furnace brazed it must be attached in some fashion that will make it through the oven process. We furnace braze alum. cooling cores. The alum has a clad surface on the bonding sides. Prior to furnace brazing at some point a mig welder or staking is used to keep...

    Husky 385 is fried.

It looks pretty clear where the missing needle bearing went. :-) Running a saw on a mill is like a Hi-Po boat motor during an endurance race. An up hill battle with huge demands. Many saws can't hack a dull chain and an aggressive user let alone continuous abuse with a tight tune which is...

    Understanding oiler on Echo CS-4600

Correct. There should be an adjustment on the bottom along with arrows to increase or decrease oil output.

Try the "Help Number" posted on the sticker. It is valid.

    Garage Sale Season

The pioneer is a survivor saw. I wouldn't touch it. It's worth a lot more to part out but then it wouldn't be a survivor. . Nice score!

    Craftsman Roper 3.7

Those don't have an oil pump like modern saws. The oiling system uses pulse from the crank case and the manual oiler. They get plugged up really easy with the tiny copper lines, fittings, check valves and other orifices. the O-rings also fail. Enjoy. It is the "most fun" part of that series...
