    FS-250 problems

It was the spark arrestor screen! Thanks everyone! I thought I had checked it, but I had not. It was badly plugged up.....

    FS-250 problems

The machine is 4 years old, light residential use only. Never had a single problem with it. The fuel is what we call "clear premium" high octane (93+) no ethanol. Spark screen is clear, I'll replace fuel filter.

    FS-250 problems

It's been running great--no issues. Haven't run it in 4-6 weeks. I only run clear high-octane fuel and synthetic oil mix. Yesterday, it started running poorly after 15 mins of so of use--idling rough, and having to feather the throttle to get it up to full speed which it would eventually do...

    Clutch Problem on Stihl FS-130?

Thanks to both Harley and Rob. I think the clutch got some moisture in it over the winter under the cabin--and that explained the dry rubbing noise when I went to crank it up. I pulled out the clutch assembly, and indeed it was not moving well at all. lubed it, cleaned the clutch surfaces and...

    Clutch Problem on Stihl FS-130?

Yes, seems to be. How do I test to be sure?

    Clutch Problem on Stihl FS-130?

I got the machine used 3 years ago, and it's always run great. I stored it under our cabin this past winter, and when I got it out a few days ago to start it up there was a dry rubbing sound when pulling the starter rope and it wouldn't start. I saw a little dry corrosion on the shaft where it...

    Used Husky 371 Value?

I wouldn't say it's rough cosmetically, but it's sure not mint either. I think once I cleaned her up she'll look pretty decent, actually. I was thinking $300 too, I have no idea what he's thinking lol!

    Used Husky 371 Value?

I'm in the market for a good used 70cc saw having sold my MS-440 Magnum. A good friend has a 1998 371-XP that he bought new. He rarely uses it, it has maybe 20 hours on it. It's got the full wrap and the large felling dogs on it. It is bone stock, never modded in any way. He only uses chainsaws...

Oil pump upgrade, part 2 - the pump

Thanks for the helpful info TJ. Upon closer inspection, it looks like my oil pump has suffered from some sort of corrosion--looks like the kind of galvanic corrosion we see on boats but I'm not sure how it would happen in a chainsaw. Seems to occur when dissimilar metals are in contact with each...

Oil pump upgrade, part 2 - the pump

could use some help..... I found this thread while searching for help with my MS660 that is leaking a good amount of bar oil out the bottom near the oiler adjustment screw. If it's just sitting flat/upright, it leaks a fair amount out the bottom. Seems like bad oil pump o-rings/seals and/or...

Recommendation for metal brush cutting blade for Stihl FS-130?

I'm still slaying the blackberries with these amazing blades!! I switched to the heavy-duty version of the blades which only costs a few dollars more per blade but are made of a much better quality steel and really take a beating when you hit a metal t-post or god only knows what else hiding in...

Recommendation for metal brush cutting blade for Stihl FS-130?

I borrowed one of the tri blades from a friend and tried it out the same day that I tried the shredder blade. On the blackberries and underbrush, it was no comparison--the shredder blade blew the tri blade out of the water. On just grass and heavy weeds the tri blade did a little better than the...

Recommendation for metal brush cutting blade for Stihl FS-130?

Well, I continue to be blown away by these blades. Was clearing a patch of blackberries today when the blade (running with WOT) hit a t-post that was only exposed 8" above the ground and covered by deep brambles/grass. Brought the blade to a complete stop and killed the motor on my FS-130. Put a...

Saw deal, did I do OK???

Sorry to tell you, but it looks like you got one of those Chinese knock-offs--you can always tell by the dented mufflers......:msp_biggrin:

Recommendation for metal brush cutting blade for Stihl FS-130?

You put the blades on with the tabs pointing down--that's what helps do all the mulching.

Recommendation for metal brush cutting blade for Stihl FS-130?

Yeah, these blades are so ruthless with the blackberries that you almost start to feel a little sorry for them.......lol!

Recommendation for metal brush cutting blade for Stihl FS-130?

Ok, so I'm so impressed with these shredder blades and how they just devour blackberries and underbrush that I went ahead and bought a case of them!! Obviously, I can't use all of them, so, I'll make some available to folks here on a first come-first served basis. The store I bought mine at...

Handle choice for Stihl FS 250 trimmer (FS 250 vs. FS 250R)

I agree with what others have said--if you're planning on cutting larger areas, and, are planning to use a metal cutting blade at all (ESPECIALLY the shredder-type metal blades) then I think bicycle bars AND a really good harness are the only way to go. I personally would not want to run a metal...
