Eric prolly has the old promo lit for J'red concrete saws. I've seen them in the past. Yeah, I knew a guy who had a 70e concrete saw and converted it to a chainsaw. Not to put down the effort, but I'd have nothing to do with a concrete saw that had been used. If there was anything ever truly...

Mark, not to challenge your skills, but how did you test the coil? Coils are rarely the culprits, but they can be.;) Kevin

Because of the insane cost of the tree service people, I'm going to rent a man lift myself and try to trim my sprawling 100yr old Maple. I could sure use a Toploader like one of these. I have a fear of heights(the reason I was never interested in high-topping) so I don't want to take up one of...

His business model was to send people out to hunt for parts if customers asked for something not listed on his site. And if people were tire-kicking, they often wouldn't buy. Since he has to pay his people to look for parts, it was really making him angry. So either he's changed his business...

Good advice from Robin. I use long bars and always 7 pin sprockets. I don't think I own an 8 pin. However, I don't do GTGs and I don't race saws. Kevin

Yeah, chainsawr or sawagain were always my two favorites.....but there are a lot of new players in the game. Some dubious and some cheaters..... Scott was trying to sell chainsawr thanks to all the people calling in and tire kicking while buying elsewhere. I don't even know if he still owns it...

Urethane or butyl? They used butyl on windshields. Kevin

Fun times, Mark! Like opening presents on Xmas. What else have you found wrong with the 621? Kevin

Yeah, like I said it's often just a difference in linkage and configuration within the same family of saws. Governors appear and disappear within the same carb designs. I always defeat them by plugging their bases with a brass cut shim. I think I have a 80/90 carb that had a governor....kinda...

Here are a couple of pics of a 910 that I haven't gotten to yet. It looks like the grounding wire dives under the intake boot and comes out to the right side of the carb to a grounding point. As far as your carb question.....I'm not a carb swapper. I rebuild & use what came on the saw. I've...

Small fraternity of folks who collect the older J'reds. Sounds like av8or3 might know? Kevin

Nice to know. FedEx is anything but dependable in my experience. Sure, they've never lost anything for me, but they have destroyed many items in the past, especially heavy items. Most were very well-packed. The irony there is that more well-packed items were destroyed than items that were...

From Budapest....wow. $105 shipping to me. So many ways the carriers could kill this coming from so far away. I'm not into the J'reds this old, but DO appreciate their history and the folks who collect these oldies. That guy with the 751 clutch cover can put it where the sun don't shine. :p Kevin

You're correct.....don't see a winner! Was too hasty looking at the auction ending. Yeah, may come back cheaper. Didn't realize he started the bidding @$690.....good luck with that on a 49cc saw. Kevin

$690 for a vintage 49cc saw! Gotta consider the NOS condition, however.... $100 shipping to me.....don't know about the winner. Oh boy! Kevin

That is a problem if they are thin rings. You can have rings made, but it's expensive. I'd go for a used piston if the one you have is suspect or a new VEC replacement like Robin said. Just depends on how hard the saw is gonna be hammered once whole again...

Caber has you covered for rings. Piston and boot will be used. Lots of places to try for that, each with its own set of problems. I wonder if the same intake boots are shared between the 910/920/930? If so, you can add two more models to your search. Kevin
