    395xp Issues

I'd check the timing, the cast in key and small taper of the 395 flywheel is easy to slip.

Cylinder jigs for squish band cutting.

I've made a few square uni-plates with a ton of holes in them. Then use a 4 jaw independent to get it centered up. Trying to get the cylinder to line up on a 3-jaw will probably not go well.

    500i squashed. With a vengeance.

Yes, there is nothing stopping you from adding extra weld to strength it up. Besides the center of the weld is going to be stronger than the original cast material, it's the heat effected zone next to the welds that is always the weakest point after. So I often add buttressing with weld.

    500i squashed. With a vengeance.

You're making it sound much more complicated then it really is. You run AC, pure argon just like you would for aluminum. You use more gas flow with a larger cup to get better gas coverage since magnesium oxidizes easy so you need coverage like you're welding stainless. Any tungsten will work, I...

    500i squashed. With a vengeance.

That can be welded back on if you have the piece that broke off.

394 that will not start when hot

The 394 has a tank vent straw that is pressed in from the right side of the tank. If you fill the fuel all the way up and it's sitting on it's right side you'll have some fuel coming out because the fuel level is over the vent straw. Maybe yours is cracked or broken causing it to spill fuel...

    Husqvarna piston ID

That was the latest and best design piston for the 2101. They were pretty rare.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Would a standard M10x1.0 decomp plug fit?

    Jonsered Chainsaws

I'd just install a M10x1.0 heli-coil for the plug. The thin wire sits inside the crush washer so it will still seal nicely.

husky 395 assembly process - carb install?

You don't need a ring compressor. You can either lift the cylinder just enough to remove the boot or use a small screw driver to work the rings in as you set the cylinder back over the piston. There is a good chamfer at the bottom of the cylinder so it's not that hard to get the exhaust side of...

I need magnesium welded or a case half

Certainly, I run Shaun's no kill case shelter. LOL!

I need magnesium welded or a case half

Yes, you really need to use a lot of argon with mag and the least amount of heat necessary.

I need magnesium welded or a case half

I've mixed and match larger 2 and 3 series Husqvarna case halfs with no issues. Their machining tolerances seem to be much tighter than Stihls. I've had to use unmatched cases on 066's before and the deck height between the two was 0.008" off but the crank bores where not an issue. As far as...

I need magnesium welded or a case half

I only get an email when someone PM's me. I charge $35 plus shipping to fix a Stihl upper spike mount barring it's not missing more than normal.

    064 ?

You don't have to retap the case, you have to slightly slot the 066 cylinder and you can use the original M5 bolts of the 064. People do this swap all the time. The OP contacted me and I'll probably be welding the cylinder shut and re drilling/tapping the spark plug threads as well as checking...

Picked up an Olympyk 999 todayfor $50!!!!

I used a 395 piston in the one I built. I think I was able to run it without the base gasket and no machine work, squish ended up around 0.030". Not the best solution as the flat top piston is not great for a squishband that is designed for a domed piston. I later cut the squishband flat and...

    Husky 1100CD piston interference

Ahh, you are using a thin ring piston in a case which didn't have the clearance for it. The 1100 came with a church windowed piston which had full reliefs on each side.

    Husky 1100CD piston interference

The easiest way I could find to tell the difference is the 1100/285/298/2100/2101 case will have the idle speed adjuster screw in the flywheel side case. The 180/280/380/480 will have the idle screw on the carb so there will not be a spot on the case for it.
