    New echo 600

8-months later Started for the first time since March, with only one pull, smooth idle right away! I was in a rush to cleared downed trees from drive, ran fine with out dumping gas first (this is the only saw I had forgotten to store properly) Not smart to do, but was only cutting 10" dia...

Calling all cars, calling all cars. Dolmar 7900-7901 Owners Unite!

Makita/Dolmar/Solo group is on top thier game. I just got the 75cc 4-stroke Makita Leaf blower if this is the motor that will be used on chainsaws to meet future Cali CARB it is not all bad. (3-year warranty as well). It reflects well on Makita as an innovator and low cost producer of...

    First time using the Mini-Mill

Some more good advice based on actual experience, I may just have to stop posting and start doing. Good point on the noodling aspect, the 10-degrees off of vertical as shown in instructions may be best to start with. I was going to try out a different type of rail extrusion (I do not like...

    First time using the Mini-Mill

Experience such as your trial set ups is always more valuable than my thought / theory exercise, in the end I may not be able to improve on your final set up (I did not intend to doubt your efforts, however I was born and raised in a society (Germany) that claims no matter what someone has done...

    First time using the Mini-Mill

That is good responsible advice, I do not recommend anyone follow my lead, this is an experiment on my part. I have several dozen of aluminum extrusions to choose from at work that will provide positive engagement up/down and side to side. I will also start off with a smaller saw like the...

Get them while they are HOT!!!

I do not like the 6401 since it shoots down the rational for getting any other saws, how am I supposed to have CAD? To be honest it can do everything I have thrown at it, long bars it has the torque, short bars it has the speed. I have not tried it milling but for everything else I really...

    First time using the Mini-Mill

The shield is standard in the kit. I just got one, I will ignore the instructions and rotate the saw 180-degrees that way saw dust hits the ground instead of getting thrown in the air. I will run the saw as close to the wood as possible thus not having exposed chain near my hand let you...

What do you think Husqvarna's best saw is?

That is a good question. The answer could be a business decision not an engineering concern. See attached Oleo-Mac 101 cc saw excerpt from manual. 25:1 oil ratio specified for a non-named quality 2-stroke oil (only) 100:1 ratio using their synthetic oil.

What do you think Husqvarna's best saw is?

What you are saying makes perfect sense to me. It brings into question why there is no reference in the manual of a 50:1 mix only 25:1 see attached excerpt dealing with oil mix

What do you think Husqvarna's best saw is?

Here is a link to the 2101 XP Owners Manual http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/HO/HO1997/HO1997_1018559-97.pdf Max RPM is 10,500 for setting the H-needle This was a bygone era where the quality of 2-stroke oil was such that the above OM specifies 25:1 mix or 30W motor oil...

Some good things about newer saws

I agree with your choice of R50 and 36:1, it is good insurance for modified saws since they produce substantially more power (and heat) that is beyond the cooling capabilities of the OEM design. It is good we currently all still have that choice to modify saws to our liking, it will not be to...

Some good things about newer saws

I posted some Dyno charts that indicated a 394xp was running much more efficiently than the 066 or 088 or any other saws over 6-hp

Some good things about newer saws

By using the "right" tool for the job "to get it done" You are in effect greener (MS441 40% less pollution 100% more run time to get the job done) if my math is right. The bonus toward the point being made in the original post, your eyes may not be watering for as long or lungs not consuming...

Some good things about newer saws

You need to try the Solo 471 KAT it is the cleanest engine (car, saw, trimmer, whatever) I have ever experienced http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=123271 see post # 12

Some good things about newer saws

When the Mosquito's are out in full force I use up my old oil at 34:1 in the 3200 Mac, keeps them away

Some good things about newer saws

My 681 has very little fumes (no more than the 600 Echo which has limiters), I can only think of 2-differences, my saw has the Walboro carb instead of the 7900's Zama carb, and I use Amsoil 100:1 oil at 75:1 Flat out I get some unburnt hydrocarbons (fumes), but with the power it has I find...

    npw bb7900 my poor judgement

Government Motors makes very good cars now The sad thing about GM, they knew all along how to make good cars, however management was only concerned about their stock options / bonus each quarter. To make those short term profits the incentive game required cost cutting that resulted in 70%...

What do you think Husqvarna's best saw is?

Yes I noticed that as well, I generated that PDF from printing my screen. Each page including the home page has that date, perhaps a copyright date for the web design / layout. http://international.husqvarna.com/node1816.aspx?nid=68101
