    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

does it have an automatic? could be the trans cooler in the radiator.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Ron you have too much fun. Bucking those huge trees must be super! Especially hardwoods. Thanks for the photos. Nice job. What FIREWOOD!

    346 Crank Bearings

Its not uncommon for stainless on stainless to gall. As for the ceramic bearings, it is important that the bearings be C3 like the steel ones. The alignment of the two crankcase halves is probably not accurate enough for very high tolerance bearings, like some ceramics are.

    Sachs Dolmar 115i

Dolmar 115i There is a small pin (4mm dia, 4 or so long) that sticks out of the handle down by the chain brake mechanism. It must be part of the attachment. If this jogs your memory or is there is a location with this old parts list, let me know. This has been driving me nuts.

My poor MS261 was in an accident; well, so was I

MS 261 and accident Glad you are OK. If the bar is toast, then perhaps the bar studs are now loose or something in that area of the saw.

    Sachs Dolmar 115i

I cannot figure out the chainbrake actuation mechanism on this Sachs Dolmar 115i , and all the parts diagrams show a mechanism that is not correct for this saw. The chain brake "handle" is attached to the cylinder on the clutch side of the saw with a single large screw. The brake band and...

    357 Husky oil LEAK!

I removed the oil pump and the two rubber hoses. Didn't see any holes in the hoses. The hose that goes into the oil tank seems to fit a little loose in the hole. Where the hoses fit around the pump it looked ok. But when I reassembled it and left it for a day, the same LARGE oil puddle under...

    371xp running lean

I have not done the vac test yet. This saw has had a lot of problems. Its tank was busted and the flywheel "key" was sheared. So a used tank and flywheel were installed. And then I thought it was ok. I'm pretty sure it was last year. Now not at all ok until richened a little. The other...

    371xp running lean

The saw would die when given throttle. replaced pumper hose, checked gas line for breaks, disassembled carb to replace kit even though it looked OK. Fine sawdust in carb screen, couple of larger pieces in the pump side. Blew all that out with needles out. Did not remove plugs in carb body...

Sachs Dolmar 120si back from the dead ...well, almost dead.

I'm glad you have it running. Speaking of Winslow, the Moore's Pawn there has a BUNCH of saws, including a Stihl 090, but all around $450. I thought the prices were high, except maybe not the 090. I was looking for a 115 side cover with a complete old type chain brake. Nada.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Oxidation of flywheel cover Seems like oil solved the oxidation on the Kart motors we used to run. They were always covered with the mist that came out of the carb at hi rpm. That polished saw is real nice. I am thinking about doing that to my 101s, as I ain't going to pay the price for...

Tight piston I think you will find it tomorrow.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

tight piston Are they the correct rings? If the ring grooves are not deep enough, then the ring would look OK while just sitting on the piston in the expanded state, but when compressed might not be able to go back into the groove enough to allow the ring to compress. Or if the groove was...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

tight piston You don't somehow have a tapered cylinder that is contributing to the bind? If the piston moves freely w/o the rings, the rings must have something to do withthe bind, but it coud be how they fit in the cyl.

    372XP throttle cable

cable throttle I've not had trouble with the cable linkages, but if the sheath gets out of the pinch in the trigger, which it usually does, that is a problem. That part of the design is a bit weak. Threading the gas hose through is more of a pain, though Pruit

    cad strikes while at tsc........

Tsc The TSC I went to would not bargain and the saw was way over priced. Manager (she) acted like someone else would not like it if she lowered the price. And she agreed it was not worth the price on it. wierd.

Delco Remy parts needed for my Super 2

distributor shims GM used to sell the shims in their performance catalog. Try one of the performance oriented Dealerships, they have the catalog on line. I've shimmed many distributors.

    372XP throttle cable

372 throttle cable The end of the sheath that is in the handle has to be "pinched" in the plastic trigger and the other end of the sheath has to fit in the nylon piece up by the carb. So both ends of the sheath have to be held or it does not work well. Pruit

2010 MS391 what do you think

Bargain 391 and 20 chains Those chains are stretching cause they are getting hot. Either Dull or no oil, but most likely dull with the new saw, especially if cutting Juniper. However, check out the oiler on that saw.

It followed me home from lunch....

Lunch time saw I have several, some XL-12 and some SXLAO. The automatic oil type like yours feel slightly heavier than the XL-12, and have a bigger bore I think. But they are good ole saws with parts everywhere. I have not had ign problems, but the advice earlier sounds useful. I like the...
