A true work saw build? Or hobby saw. A 394 OEM to Hyway 395

Did this a couple years back. First video the bones to running with a Hyway top end. Then a couple of felling video's with that saw. Not sure if I had posted these as they aren't showing up in the search. But with so much focus over the years of fast saws , modded saws, and cookies, I wonder...

McCulloch "Pro Mac 60" & Jonsered 70e with a little 562 mixed in

Back to the vintage saws for me for a while. Taking a break from the production mentality & logging Actually had a 562 in the beginning, a real comparison for certain. :)

    Show us your stumps!

Yeah, crashed around with a farm tractor, so slightly different subject :) But... maybe, I found some really cool stumps on the side of the road. Not mine, but from a tree service. Some interesting stuff actually, I'll see if I can scramble something up. Going to spend a little time on tops...

The Farm Tractor in the Woodlot

A farm tractor in the woodlot is exactly what this is all about :)

    Show us your stumps!

Three stumps :) Each a little different. And two a little "sugar" maple to sweeten things up a bit. ( what I'm in the week & prolly for the rest of winter/spring )

    Humboldt vs. Conventional

How about Humboldt on Red Oak, works pretty well as they aren't prone to fiber pulls :)

    Humboldt vs. Conventional

AND after folks chase around reasons to do one type of cut or another.....you have this :) ( Humboldt & Full Wrap country at it's best )

    Humboldt vs. Conventional

    Think I found the channel....boats too :)

    Humboldt vs. Conventional

Pretty much the same here with the mills, and I can see that sometimes stumps on a hill side can be used to keep stuff from rolling down into the pits :) The one mill I sell to most won't take over 32" as well. I really love the Bjarne Butler video's , a view into a world I will never have the...

    Humboldt vs. Conventional

Yup, same. But there is a place , and this is one. Not in my timber, but places like this absolutely :)

    Humboldt vs. Conventional

Contrast :) One is "harvesting" the other a tree service. Which begs the question on the "service" Why? Does it matter if the hing is from the top or bottom as long as the tree is on the ground safe? But imagine being a land owner and seeing all your veneer with stumps like that :)

    Humboldt vs. Conventional

    Talk about a LOW STUMP!

    East Coast Veneer

And yet another contrast :) Pretty efficient way :)

    East Coast Veneer

Contrast when looking to maximize harvested wood per tree on those hardwoods with stronger "fiber"

    East Coast Veneer

Check this out. Check out the closing of the hinge and resultant pull...wow. Point is there is a contrast. I'll post this, then RE-post a contrasting video. Hey, the tree is on the ground and nothing got broken & hurt right?

Cutting the sides of the tree before the back cut ?

Every tree every log is it's own set of issues. On this last job I pulled some from the small end, some from the big. Depended completely on what was presented and possible with out large amounts of work. So generalizations don't fit this world. One I cut the root flares because the only access...
