Jotul not throwing as much heat after gasket replacement...

It's the only wood I have for the rest of the season. I kinda fixed the problem by loosing the glass screws two or three turns to let some air in....burning bright and hot again for now....next year I will get some drier wood :msp_biggrin:

Jotul not throwing as much heat after gasket replacement...

The tree was dead for a while before it fell. It was dropped December of 2009 and cut into 18 inch rounds. I split the rounds into 1/8ths back in June and they seasoned all summer in the sun. I will get a piece every now and then that hisses and pops but everything else is pretty much dry. It...

Jotul not throwing as much heat after gasket replacement...

well after reading about the burn times on the Jotul stove, I checked my gaskets with a dollar bill and they were almost all shot. I ordered the kit and changed everything out ( the door, the glass and the ash pan). Only problem now is that I can't get the stove really cranking like before. I am...

    Jotul F 3 CB opinions

Not sure what a heat shield is but the fireplace did have a ventalater blower system. The inside of the fireplace is at least 1/4" steel with two blowers on each side in the wall. I got the stove and pipe at a great deal and it fits perfectly in the small space that I have. That is why I bought...

Circulating warm air to other rooms?

I went off the earlier recommendations of lowering the cfm to 220 vs 440. The door is open from our bedroom but that doesn't seem to help. Does the number of turns or the angle of the turns reduce both air speed and temp??

    Jotul F 3 CB opinions

This is my second seaon with my Jotul F 3 CB. I have 1400 sq ft colonial with the stove in a 180 sq ft addition on the front of the house. My stove is semi recessed in my fireplace so i am not utlizing the full amount of the heat. I too use a large amount of wood and reload the fire every 30...

Circulating warm air to other rooms?

well a year later I finally installed my air moving system. I have an intake above the stove with 220 cfm fan connected to 20 feet of insulated ductwork that runs to our bedroom. There is one S bend to get through a rafter and a slight rise into our room. The problem is that there is hardly any...

Anyone in SE PA want to trade for some red oak?

I have about three truckloads of nice red oak. Tree was dropped last December, cut into rounds in Jan/Feb and split into 1/8ths around June. This was a 36"- 40" tree. I have been burning some of the wood already. Some is wet and some is dry. Problem is that most of the wood I now have is 18" -...

Whole House fan for moving hot air?

Hey guys, I posted back in Jan or Feb about installing a system to move the hot air in my house from the front room where the stove is into the other rooms and upstairs as well. One guy sent me a detailed blower system that used a fan and duct work to move the air into some other rooms...

Methods for cutting the fire starters

I get the free scraps 2x4s from Home Depot, use the chop saw into 8-12" pieces and then split them up with Chopper ax....works great. I start my woodstove twice a day...once in the morning before work and when I get home from work...the 2x4s burn fast and then I use some newspaper...starts everytime

Huskee leak out of top of reserve

Hey guys, I scored big time on some craigslist red oak that are like 42" rounds:jawdrop: Anyway, I have been splitting it up after work so that I can transport it home. It has been hot and humid here in Philly and while I was splitting, hydraulic fluid started to spray out of the...

My first real saw..Stihl MS 361

Thanks guys....I don't take down a lot of trees..just use the saw mostly for cutting up firewood that has already been cut. I will run the saw with the 20" blade as it is much bigger than 14" and the 25" for the real big stuff. My wife was giving me so bs about spending this much on a saw but I...

My first real saw..Stihl MS 361

So I got into wood burning this year and now I am addicted. Year and a half ago, I bought 14" Shindaiwa 357 to cut up a pine tree that fell in my yard. At the time, I wanted to buy a Stihl but didn't have the money. Bought my Jotul stove last fall and bought a huskee 22 ton splitter on black...

How long do you season Ash?

So I got home from work and started a fire since it is cold and damp here outside of philly. All I have is the ash that I split last weekend. The tree was taken down in Feb or Mar, dried on my patio for 2 months and right now, it is in my stove. No hissing, crackling or anything....just burning...
