Want to Buy Stihl 034 piston and rings (46mm) - OEM or Meteor

Assuming this is unusable. Rings popped out without mangling the grooves, but...

Want to Buy Stihl 034 piston and rings (46mm) - OEM or Meteor

Looking for piston and rings for my 034AV. I can't seem to find a meteor kit anywhere - maybe they don't make them for the 034 anymore? Bought a new saw, but would like to get the old one going as a backup. Thanks!

    Crazy MS440 Popup

Do you run a different mix of fuel for this higher compression? What's the optimum compression? I would think at some point the compression becomes parasitic and reduces power.

    Crazy MS440 Popup

Interesting work Brad. Two quick concerns: is the asymmetry going to cause problems with the balance of the piston? Also, is there much material left where you've thinned it out? I'm sure you already asked these questions, but I'm just curious.

    Bringing back an 034AV

OK, so in a Stihl parts list do the parts with an asterisk mean that they are the new part replacing the old one or the other way around?

    Bringing back an 034AV

That's what I originally thought. I'll check the two serial numbers, but if I remember the one with the front tensioner was a 22-something and the one with the side was a 18-something. The one with the side tensioner has a two-piece brake cover while the front tensioner has a single piece...

    Bringing back an 034AV

So I recently noticed that the clutch drum was VERY loose and discovered the crankshaft was worn down badly. Very strange problem that indicates that it was run after something went south like the clutch maybe or the drum breaking. Anyways, Instead of buying a new crank, I picked up a complete...

    stihl 034av problems

I may do this on my 034AV as well, since I will be swapping out the lower end. Contmeplating getting OEM 034 rings or the whole 036 conversion from Bailey's. Post pics when you do it! So who makes the Bailey's kit?

034 Crankshaft - to split or not to split?

SOunds good - you're right I could do the P&C work later if needed. Not sure if I can ask here, but where should I buy the CS, bearings, and seals? Should I buy OEM?

034 Crankshaft - to split or not to split?

OK, so if I'm going to split this thing, what should I replace? Both bearings, seals, and then see what condition the piston and rings are in?

034 Crankshaft - to split or not to split?

I can't really figure out why it would do that, but it was like that when I got it. It's definitely worn down - I think the guy that gave it to did something major and then kept running it. If there is a bit of slop and the clutch grabs the drum at an angle, the drum would alternate back and...

034 Crankshaft - to split or not to split?

yeah, I thought about a sleeve or an oversized bearing which I'm sure I could find, but the problem is the worn crankshaft itself. I can't even turn it down and put a new snap ring groove in it without taking it off the saw, and if I do that I'm not putting back on! ...or maybe I could start...

034 Crankshaft - to split or not to split?

Short version: free 034AV runs great after I put a few parts in it. Now I notice that needle cage and clutch drum have aton of slop and it turns out it's the crankshaft itself worn down where the needle cage runs. Anybody know why this might happen? Is there a fix short of splitting the...

ever done this when buying a saw?

Pretty sure I've seen gas stations with a cheaper price/gallon for cash customers.

    Just Bought a 361 - Should I Upgrade to 441?

I did something just like this recently, sold the 290 and got a 361. Perfect for firewood. I don't ever have moments where I'm wishing I had more saw, just more money... Now I just need to find a home for the 034AV because it's pretty much the same saw as the 361...

    Dating an 034 AVEQ

Cool, thanks! I was thinking around 1990. Is there a way to read the code? The first number (2) is Virginia Beach, right?
