    Skidsteer forestry mower attachments

Hey Brett, Go back and read my earlier post. A skid steer on 150 acres is just pissing in the wind. What ya gonna do, rent it? Good luck. Rentals on this stuff are higher than a cat's back and you will have damage no matter how careful you are so be sure to tack that on the bill. Gonna buy it...

My first day on the Fecon FTX140 mulcher

Grinding Mesquite is a real temporary solution to clearing the property. Hope somebody is following up with herbicide on those stumps.

    Tree Shears

The one on their website looks like my old one-should do the job. Be sure to weld or bolt a piece of angle over your hydraulic couplers and put on an expanded metal or Lexan door to protect you. You can direct the fall of the tree to some degree by lifting up and tilting forward. However, a...

    Tree Shears

We had a 20" Tree Terminator Grande and with good sharp blades it will cut just about anything. We did break a chrome rod on one of the cylinders but that was after years of abuse and countless trees. Good: Super tough, well built, simple design, low maintenance Bad: Slow cycle rate, trees...

    what equipment should I buy?

Join the crowd... I guess you have $149,999 burning a hole in your pocket. Do you have any background in this type of work? Do you have a good network of contacts? Are you working in a related field? Have you just signed a huge contract with the county or a utility company for ROW clearing...

    Land clearing...what to do next

Hire a dozer guy for a week and burn it. There are hundreds of contractors in East Texas running dozers who could push the stuff up into burn piles for you. That Fecon attached to a hi-flow skid steer is going to run you $1000/day, beat you to death and might just clear one acre/day. It will...

Best way to set up Greenteeth on a 1625

That outside set of straight teeth is also called the lead tooth position and I'd try running the Greenteeth in just that position if you still have the old Rayco teeth and bolts. I had serious problems directly related to the Greenteeth. I quit using them and went back to the tried and true...

    Adding Heat/AC to a skidsteer

You need a Red Dot system. Specifically designed for agricultural and construction equipment, as well as, truck sleeper cabs. We installed lots of them on big enclosed forklifts used at the Houston ship channel. You may need to go to a truck dealer to find a certified A/C tech. Should be an easy...

    carlton 900h stumper

Do a search here-lots of info on these little grinders. I wouldn't buy new when you can pick up a rental retiree at 1/4 the cost of new. There's just not very much to go wrong on these little units and the Carltons, Raycos, Bluebirds, Huskies and Doscos are all basically the same...

ive got to give a +1 for demott tool.

Sold some old Rayco teeth to Schwab Machine Services a.k.a. stumpcutterking out of Jacksonville, FL because he advertised up to $2/tooth and these things were just sitting in the back of my shop. Instead of looking them over and sending me a check I was told they would have to go throught he...

    Stump Grinder, Bobcat SGX 60?

The Stumper 280 has none of the power-robbing swing and tilt cylinders the other more conventional grinders do so its output is outstanding. Yes, chip containment is a problem. For chip containment, its tough to beat the conventional or old style grinder attachments that throw the chips back...

    Stump Grinder, Bobcat SGX 60?

Your 2005 A300 with hi flow should be putting out 30gpm at 3300 psi for a total of about 50hhp. I've never run that Bobcat SGX60 grinder attachment but I can tell you, just from looking at it, there are better grinder attachments on the market. I don't like the layout, the extra moving parts...

    Equipment Advice?

No way am I going into the woods to make a living day in and day out with a new-to-me 2500-4000 hour machine. If I put the hours on it, that's one thing but who knows with an ex-rental machine or worse. An old mechanic told me a long time ago, its really expensive buying a new machine one piece...

    Skid steer stump grinders

You do have to cut the roots from different angles. Its easier if the stump is NOT cut flush to the ground so you can grab it like a loose tooth-tell the tree guys to leave a foot or so. As far as nice lawns go, you're talking about a 7800 lb, 6 foot wide machine that turns by ripping up the...

    Skid steer stump grinders

Is your S250 hi-flow? If not, don't bother. Even if it is a hi-flow, why don't you just use the bucket, a tree spade or a ripper? Grinders make a huge mess. Grub it, don't grind it!

    Question for skidsteer/diesel eng. gurus

Lab, Skid steers just don't produce the hydraulic horsepower necessary to achieve the single pass clear-the Holy Grail of land clearing. Instead, you have to sit there and gnaw on the big stuff and make repeated passes with the mulcher to reduce the stuff. Personally, I think mulchers make an...
