Husqvarna 440 xtorq won't stay running - help please

Jstroder you know if u have a vent issue if you remove the cap immediately after it stalls, and there's a vacuum noise of air rushing in. I have a 435 that has had no problems, same saw just lower compression. But I also have a small stable of errants that have or had just about every malady...

Husqvarna 440 xtorq won't stay running - help please

Test the compression. Pull the muffler and see if it is clear or clogged or loaded with fuel. Take a look at the Piston and cylinder and see if they are scored. How much carbon inside? Replace the spark plug, its cheap. Inspect the intake for cracks and gaps. -HF

    Homelite 360 fuel mix ratio

The old high oil ratio mixes were for SAE30 oil. Since then 2-stroke oil has been invented and improved, lubricates better in smaller quantities and smokes much less. -HF

Ryobi 46cc chainsaw hard to start

I had to check this post to see if I had written it. Mine does exactly the same thing. I pulled out my busted UT10522 today and put new fuel lines, ported the muffler, and put on a new $30 RUIXING carb. Started right up after 5 pulls and got a great 3 minutes of run time out of it, until it...

    Large HF USC hacked :)

What kind of cleaning fluid do you all use? I tried my usual carb cleaner (forget exactly what) in my small HF USC and the white plastic melted and made a real mess.

    Stihl MS200 problems

Cheap clone carbs can be more trouble then they're worth. That being said, some of the original carbs on this model are infamous for the accelerator pump issue. Much was discussed in this thread but not everything suggested there was a good idea (blocking pump means temp lean condition). But it...

Husky 55 EPA carb number of turns

Thanks Pogo and everyone! I got the OEM Carb on eBay and a new bulkhead, and it fired right up. I'll bring the idle down a little more. I cut a bit of wood but had to stop as it was getting dark. Rakers need to come down a little but saw feels strong! I'm into it for $100 plus $12 of air...

Husky 55 EPA carb number of turns

Great minds think alike. I was checking out the bulkhead (couldn't resist one more try at it tonight) and thought "Hmm I could just drill the back and glue a nut in there." I'll do something like that. I don't have a Helicoil near small enough or I'd use one. Impulse tube that extends from...

Husky 55 EPA carb number of turns

Thanks, Pogo. I have some options now. I'll update this thread once I have time to make more progress. I do intend to keep it. I can go higher on the investment if I can sell the $5 Poulan Pro in my sig. It just needs "a little more work" (haha).

Husky 55 EPA carb number of turns

OK That's the next thing I will do... but while I have it that far apart, I'd like to fix the freshly stripped hole in the bulkhead. Any advice there?

Husky 55 EPA carb number of turns

Well, that just happened. Left side screw just stripped out. It still has a bit of grip. The left side has the bottom bolt on the carb plate which helps hold the carb secure, and I put a little gasket silicone on both sides of the paper gasket, being careful not the block the impulse hole...

Husky 55 EPA carb number of turns

Thanks... or... I'll keep going until I run out of money, or cost of parts exceeds saw value, lol.... So, excited I have something concrete to try, I just replaced the welch plug and bent the metering lever up a little. I think it's just barely above level as you described it. Anyway, the saw...

Husky 55 EPA carb number of turns

Thanks, 1-1/4 is where I put it when re-assembling. OK I can do that. Yes I smashed it real good, don't know if it's sealing around the edges any more or not. Since I'm pulling off the carb again (not a big deal on this model) I'll have another go at replacing it. Thanks everyone, I'll keep...

Husky 55 EPA carb number of turns

Basic question is, how many turns out on a ZAMA C1Q-EL7 H&L to start tuning a 1998 Husqvarna "EPA". Saw starts with choke on and runs only with the choke feathered around half and then cuts out. Don't want to push it any further for fear of running it lean for too long. The background... I...

    Where's the Carbitooter thread?

https://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/200t-carbitooter-thread-official.145024/ I have it bookmarked. After putting a WHOLE lot of money in parts into my 200t, had it running nice, then the side rotted out. I have a new-to-me side to put on it... someday... not looking forward to...

Would you buy the new Ford F-150 with the Aluminum body?

That's OK. So much Ford truck work already requires lifting the body. -HF

Would you buy the new Ford F-150 with the Aluminum body?

It's all good. Ford owners will just pay more than others on there insurance premiums, that's all. -HF
