New Echo 360t or Used Husky 335xpt?

I've never run either of the saws you posted but I have run husky 338xpt and i must say it was a very good trim saw. Lots of power and faster than a dog running from a yellow jacket nest it dug up trying to bury his bone

Just an after thought. before you go drilling holes in your muffler make sure you take it off the saw. wouldn't want any metal getting into the cylinder.

Not really an option on a saw unless you want to spend more on the cylinder than the saw is worth. The cylinders are plated if you bore it you'll have to get it re- plated.

the full skip chain has more space between cutters. Less cutters overall so the saw doesn't work as hard and can maintain higher RPM in the cut

I'd say just a geuss I gained about 15 - 20% by opening up the muffler. Like I said crude but effective. I was told that the muffler mod wouldn't do me any good on my saw because of the strato engine design but those nay sayers were full of crap.

As for your chain check out baileys they are a sponsor here on the site they have very good deals on chain. Alot of people here like the stihl chain but they are mostly stihl Nazis I personally don't care for it. it stretches like a rubber band. I like woodland pro and oregon. Just don't get...

Upgrade to a full skip should speed things up. It has less cutters so the saw doesn't have to work as hard. Also one of the cheapest things you can do to gain cutting speed. On a side note, if your saw is bogging alot you may have the drags a little low. Mayby not. Like I said earlier a...

you could try modding the muffler. there are a lot of post on here about it just search muffler mod. If you are milling lumber with it you can get a special ripping chain that makes the process a little easier on the saw. Though a full skip chisel chain will cut faster.

Newbie - Need help with choosing a ChainSaw

The Husqvarna 435 and 445 are both very good saws. A good friend of mine has the 435. While not very powerful, it is very light. I have used it several times while helping him clear land for his new barn and think it would be a very good camping saw. If you are just looking for something to...

I got a pair of mechanics gloves with the leather pads on the fingers and palms lasted all year and used them for everything from cutting wood to wrangling the air lines on my yard mule. they got used 7 days a week for at least six hours a day and are still in fairly good shape. Though they no...

    455 Rancher

I've cut about 10 cord of firewood with mine so far no probs. though I will say 2 things you will want to do are get an 18" or 20" b&c and turn the oiler all the way up. this little mod was handy for a little more power. takes the wind out of the power to weight issue, though it's not really...
