    Battery Powered Saws

I am looking for a battery power saw to take with on rides in the woods to trim back trees and make trails, deer shooting lanes and such. Doubt if I will be cutting stuff much bigger that 6"-8". Anyone had good luck with any? I know Stihl has several models and so does Husqvarna. Looked at...

    Looking for new saw

I'm looking for a new saw in the 50cc range. Have a pile of wood to cut up no bigger than 18". I own other large saws up to the Stihl 880. Getting to old to be handling a big saw to cut through the small stuff. I have multiple brands from Husky Stihl Dolmar and Makita. I just don't have a...

If you had a choice - what size tree would you choose to cut

The logs I cut I use a Mingo Marker with a 18" wheel. That way I can be pretty consistent in the size and makes it easier to stack.

If you had a choice - what size tree would you choose to cut

Small trees = to much brush to deal with. Bigger stuff get more wood from, but have been following a logger around and cutting up the tops. Most easy to get to and don't have to worry bout much clean up.

    Indiana gtg

Haven't been to any since yours, was to crazy busy with work last year to have time to do much of anything. I didn't even get out to Turkey hunt last year. Not going to happen this year. I will make time for that. But did have time to pick up several saws but several need work done. Got me a...

    MS290 cylinder options (modding)

Bailey's had the 390 drop in kit last month or in January for $80. I grabbed 2 of them. I have a trashed 390 and a 029. Just haven't had the time to swap them out and mod them a bit.

    Growing Wood Pile

Always called it hackberry round here. Glad I had the splitter for that. It's pretty stringy stuff. Had a good bit it of wild cherry, walnut and a little ash in there too. I had order the high air flow kit for the 'Dolkita' and got it today. Got the black plastic top also so it will...

    Growing Wood Pile

Is that a Makita I see in your pile. Just picked up a couple 6401's, haven't ran them yet. Have to get the stuff cut up and split when you can. I work nights so most of it I have been doing as it breaks daylight and hitting it for a couple of hours before it gets to hot. Then shower and bed...

    Growing Wood Pile

Got it all picked up and stacked for them so it's no longer piled up. Just had it piled up like that unloading the truck and trailer several times. No fun stacking when it's a 100 out!!

    Growing Wood Pile

Been lucky this year to be able to get to a lot of free wood. I have cut and spit more so far this year than I have in the last 5 years. Got me enough to last for the next 3 to 4 years and have been able to help out my sister and BIL. He had cancer last year in the base of his neck and they had...

    A little noodlen

Finally got back to getting the rest of this big log cut up. Maybe a bit overkill with the 36" bar but needed it to get through the big log. Nephew had break out his 066.

    Makita 6401

Thanks MCW I purchased the cover and HD filter kit from Edgeandengine. Have to see how that filter kit works out. I have several saws with 20" bars will this be a good fit for this saw or should I go up to a 24-25" bar for it. I already have many 72DL chains that I can use with the 20".

    Makita 6401

I just picked up a Makita 6401 and was wanting to change out the grey covers for black like I havve seen on some of the other Makita saw's. Does anyone know where I can get these black covers. Everywhere I looked all I have been able to find are the grey ones. Any help would be appreciated...

knotty twisted stringy garbadge wood pile?

Some I will use for the outdoor fire pit. I have a wood furnace so I can't get real big pieces in it so those odd garbage wood pieces I give to a buddy for his outdoor furnace. He doesn't care cause its free wood for him. He just piles everything up out next to it. Bugs me cause he never stacks...
