    as i was reading my localpaper I seen wood at 115 dollars a cord for white and red oak. 100 dollars a cord for maple "hardwood mix" I ought to grab a couple of cords at that price.

    lost my firewood partner this morning

    sun, wind, air, and off the ground. dont put a tarp on it or put it under a roof until you use the wood for burning. let mother nature do the rest

    I get my kindlin goin pretty good then I fill the wood stove up completely. Let that get goin pretty good, then cut my damper back and just letr burn nice and smoothly. no overfires just nice and slow.

    thats the upper part of a cherry tree. the lower/base of a cherry tree tends to have bark similar to pine, and as you go up it smooths itself out. thats cherry all day long

    People do stupid stuff when cold.

    had a couple of friends who got lost duck hunting. as night fall came, they set the boat on fire (they were on a marsh) to stay warm and for signal I also heard of hunters huddling over their gunning dogs, hugging them to retain body heat off the dog. being cold sucks
