Advice needed on current state of largest mill saws.

If your looking at the really large logs, you might want to go to a Lucas set up.. The Dedicated Super Slabber Mill cuts up to 9' in width... Yes the cost is way up there but the ease of cutting/set up/power...might just make up for it Dont forget that your going to need a lot more than the mill...

    Circular saw beam cutter

I have used one before for cutting thru thicker beams... Works good but I would think that it would be really hard on your skill saw on longer cuts.. I was using a wormdrive makita and the cuts were only 24" at max (cutting thru 8 or so inches). You might be better off building/buying a edging...

Granberg vs Northern Tool price differences

I could not find one on the N tool site..but for the most part they are all from China and I dont think one is really much better than another. The degree scales are usually off, the bolts will strip out the threads if you apply too much force....They are just what they imply ..a guide... gets...

CSM with table saw for resawing

I have two large bandsaws (36", 32") with decent resaw capacity.. but the thing is you need a sled of some sort to hold the ''log, cant' in place for cutting. I can man handle a 6' -12" x12" but that is about it , anything larger is just a PIA.

Alaskan Chain Saw Milling of Eastern Red Cedar

Two things jump out at me immediately.. Your 36" bar will not be large enough for a 36" or 34" cut...Also your powerhead might not like a bar that long.

    Alaskan saw mill?

From the little I learned online you might be having a hard time trying to track down a bar with the correct mounts ((either GB 'PA' (Oregon D010) or 'HV' mount (Oregon D009). 3/8 .058 chain is standard.)).. Also if you do grenade the saw your parts are going to be difficult to source as it a...

    Putting together a green worktable?

I did a table a year or so ago , that sits on the deck.. Legs and strechers made from 4"-6" cotton wood , that a beaver was kind enough to drop for me. Fully green at the time of construction, now that its dry no noticeable difference, no visual warping... Its referred to as the "Dam table''...

dimensions for future re-saw - walnut slabs

We are metric in Canada but deal in imperial..(go figure).looking at your log pics, by the time you cut around the pith your not left with really wide "'slabs"" but aiming at thickness I would stay in of 30mm, 60mm... ..Usually when I start dressing my wood I loose at least 3mm.. Just compensate...
