    McCulloch Chain Saws

I've just bought a McCulloch 110, would it be considered a classic, since it was made between 1977 and 1983, I'm probably going to refurbish it and use as a secondary "spare" chainsaw.

    Electrical chainsaw

A Stihl MSE chainsaw would be on my consideration list for an electric saw, bit on the pricey side by comparison to Makita's, yet there may be a quality difference. I read somewhere the electric Makita chainsaws are made in China.

    Electrical chainsaw

I've never found an electric saw more powerful than 2kw, that said if you're just gonna be logging why need more?

    New bar/chain for a 43cc chainsaw

21 lpx looks good, is reasonably priced too. I'm just wondering, what is a witness mark?

    New bar/chain for a 43cc chainsaw

Right I understand, I'm just a bit confused because the site I bought it from showed it with a Doubleguard bar, yet the bar has a chain pitch of .325". I've just emailed the firm I bought it from, should get a genuine awnser on Tuesday... that's a long wait :( I'm starting to think now it's...

    Electrical chainsaw

I looked on Shindaiwa's website (it's probably not up to date but still) and there were only petrol chainsaws marketed in the US. That Shindaiwa would have been before the echo merge. Are the Makita electric saws made to the same quality as thier petrol chainsaws, I wonder?

    Electrical chainsaw

Petrol Shindaiwa, probs a 285s or something. Shindaiwa make electric saws but only for the Japanese market. I've never seen one from them anywhere else.

    New bar/chain for a 43cc chainsaw

the one on it at the moment is .325, I looked at the selector guide on Oregon's website and it didn't have the Doubleguard bar in the results. Could that mean it's not got one on at the moment. It's a pain in the arse how it's got the name of the manufacturer written on the bar instead of the...

    Electrical chainsaw

Black and Decker mate ;) No but really those Makita's look good. I was considering buying one sometime soon but I've decided if I get a new chainsaw it'll be a smaller Shindaiwa. The toolless chain tensioning from what I hear and what experience I've had with it so far is fairly good, the...

    New bar/chain for a 43cc chainsaw

I believe it's got an Oregon Doubleguard bar/chain, though I'm not too sure as the bar has the saw brand written on the side rather than the bar/chain (defo Oregon) model on the side. By the way it's a Tanaka ECV-4501 Cos I've only recently bought the saw I probably won't have to replace the...

    Information on Tanaka saws?

It's the same saw, Hitachi own Tanaka, but the Tanaka which I have is made in Japan, it's got it all over it. Not sure about the CS33EB, though when I was in the dealership I think it had a made in Japan sticker on it, the Tanaka version of the saw, this is. I'd get a Hitachi CS33EB over the...

    Tanaka chainsaw

There's a few differences, chain oil tanks not in the same position, dosen't have a decompression valve, slightly more cc (if that matters) and more heavier. If it's an improvement or something Tanaka have done a bloody good job.

    Tanaka chainsaw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMiNyuEAER4 I'm aware I'm not doing it right, I'm still working on building a decent saw horse. Also are Oregon's cheaper safety boots any good? Anyway, the saw is great, it's powerful enough and it cuts really fast. Are Oregon Pro-Lite bars any good for when...

    Tanaka chainsaw

I'd agree with that, it's weird how they're more in the US yet cheaper in the UK and perhaps parts of Europe as well... I always had the impression Japanese compaines like Shindaiwa and Tanaka would establish thier brands better in the US where there is more demand for such machines. EDIT: Or...

    Tanaka chainsaw

Yeah as far as I see Stihl's are considerably cheaper in the US, I was gonna get a Stihl MS 240 but this appealed much more in terms of cost, I'm aware the MS 240 is decent and it produces more power, I'd probably get it when my Mum isn't managing all my money, that's teenage life for ya ;)

    Tanaka chainsaw

I've got local dealer support, It's much cheaper than the equiv Stihl and much easier to get hold of than a Shindaiwa. It's a decent saw it's well built and solid, also it's performance is rather good. Also the warranties quite nice, but I can fix the saws myself I know how they work/how to...

    Tanaka chainsaw

Gotcha, seems to cut well enough at the moment but when I get a new bar/chain what would you reccomend?

    Tanaka chainsaw

Nah defo not it's got Made in Japan all over it, yet I saw a thread about some chinese made Tanakas, I'll make sure to stay away. No it nears to £400 here, I'm not really a Husqvarna man myself though I can't deny they make good saws. Anyway I was cutting some trees down and logging with...

    Tanaka chainsaw
