    Amsteel whoopie won't slide

Darn thing will barely adjust at all. Do you think washing it will help? I guess I have nothing to lose by trying that I just wondered if anyone else had that issue with one. It's a few years old but not seen much hard use. I just use it for my smaller porta wrap. I am assuming it's junked up...

    Age and Health

I am 45 and still climb trees like a beast imho. I will say that losing dam near 50 pounds since last February has been a game changer for me.No doubt I added years to my climbing career. I also quit drinking 8 years ago and quit smoking 5 years ago which are also very important things to avoid imo.

    33hp vs 44hp kubota Carlton 4012

I actually wanted to order one without the pusher blade because I wasn't convinced I would ever really use it. Figured I would save the 1,100$. They ended up just giving it to me because they already have the units made up and want to move em on out. And that was after we already had a deal for...

    33hp vs 44hp kubota Carlton 4012

I am buying the 44hp unit with all the goodies! The Carlton dealer made me a very good deal (I think at least) so I took him up on it. I can't wait. I was smart and left a stump in my back yard and two and my neighbors house so I will be able to use it right away. I may even have it next week.

    33hp vs 44hp kubota Carlton 4012

Just looking for people who can speak from experience on these two engines. Also input on the 35hp vanguard may be useful although I have pretty well ruled it out. I am currently planning on getting a 4012 with 4x4 and wireless remote. I just can't decide if the extra 4,000$ for the 44hp is...

New to arborism, Insurance and workman's comp question?

And oh ya , I almost forgot the part about using past payroll expenses to calculate your first payment to WC in order to get the ball rolling. So ya, its gonna cost you a significant chuck of cash up front. It seems like a dam racket to me.

New to arborism, Insurance and workman's comp question?

It has been my experience in this industry that A. Insurance costs really aren't that bad and B. Workers comp cost is unGodly bad, so bad in fact it boggles my mind when I think about it and it gives me a headache. I/we in Ohio pay right around 25%. I am under the impression that its the same...

    What do you wear?

They had a lug sole and I am pretty sure vibram but cant swear to that. A guy i talked to from Viberg at a tcia expo told me that the reason my wescos came apart at the sole is because they use nails that will rust. I do think there great boots though.

    What do you wear?

I think JTree means Wesco not wesspro. They are def great boots. I had a pair of ten inch highliners and i got three years out of them. Its true they will resole them if you want but it wasnt exactly cheap especially when you factor in that you have to pay shipping both ways. And also you will...

Anyone else climbing in the snow?

i dont climb trees with snow on them unless i really need to. I have though back in my younger days. As i recall it was a bunch of BS and i recall getting frostbite on my right ring finger to. And the funny thing is how i dont recall the boss EVER being out there with us lol. Now that i am my...

A "Hack" just did my Cottonwood removal

you and your neighbor are just lucky no one got hurt or God forbid, killed. Cuz you both woulda got your nuts sued off. They obv have no workers comp. Even if they do actually have liability insurance doesnt mean **** if someone gets hurt.

    MS261cm or MS291

I have a 261 and i love it. I am a professional and to me the choice is a no brainer its the 261. It sounds to me that you have enough wood to cut now and in thw future to justify the extra cost. It is a better saw.

Altek Chipper, is this a decent price?

Thats a darn good engine on it imho. One thing about a "chuck n duck" is that it will separate the men from the boys with ground men. Once you do get a self feed, which I recommend when u can, it will seem like a real luxury. I have chipped tons of brush through a fast feed. There not so bad.

    Homemade big shot

I think its really cool and intuitive and I love the rope grab/archery trigger release set up. However, I strongly agree with the previous posts about the strength and whats gonna happen when that head breaks. Just take it apart before someone gets hurt. And oh ya....thanks for sharing!

Sometimes people around here dont like to answer "will it hold" questions. I know I dont. Theres always variables involved in real work situations.
