Stihl 261 or 362 for homeowner

MS 262 & 462 already for sale in Tennessee? Neither shows up on Stihl USA's website as we speak and my dealer tells me both are still in QA phase (quality assurance == testing phase). ****** All the pros I know use the MS262 religiously and then switch to a ms462 or larger when necessary...

Stihl MS440 making a come back?

I've been to AU so know the feeling. I PM'd him for price & have yet to receive a reply, I figure based on 1.28 Canadian to 1:00 USD the exchange ratio is slightly in my favor, if he has one in stock.

Stihl dealer withouts parts or service

Stihl has definitely changed their marketing/sales strategy which I think is a "Stragedy". Years ago when you do a dealer search in Stihl USA there is a "filter" where you can select Full Line Retailer, Full Line + Service Dealer etc. Now that filter has been changed and can no longer filter...

    Is this a fake 660?

it's also missing the serial number stamp. Stihl stamp serial# at the top corner of the inner spike mount.

looking to buy a 50 cc firewood saw, either husky pro 50cc sthil 261 or dolmar 5105

I'd pick the one with least electronics and fully adjustable carb, made in Germany without Chinese parts is a definite plus in my book. If running lean is a concern, Dolmar carb has limiter caps on it but you can easily cut them off then tune the saw to run richer than factory setting. On top...

looking to buy a 50 cc firewood saw, either husky pro 50cc sthil 261 or dolmar 5105

Yeah don't get me started! There was one for sale on eBay last week in pristine condition and I "missed" it because I was "On Call"

Stihl ms 461r or husky 372, need a new saw!!

Terry Landrum at Wicked Work Saw is a Husky dealer and his woods ported saws are listed on the website. If you're going the Husky route, buy one directly from him you save the 8.75% Ca sales tax and a brand new bad @$$ 372XP out of box.

Need help picking a new saw

You can't go wrong with either saw, I am not very mechanically inclined but have found chainsaws are very easy to work on because they're 90% mechanical parts without ECU/CPU etc etc. Sprocket is about the only normal wear/tear part that you'll ever need to replace aside from maybe the clutch if...

    Makita EA4300 (Dolmar PS-420) vs. Makita DCS5121 (Dolmar PS-510)

the best analogy I can give you is to imagine if you are buying a new truck. A bigger truck can be used to haul small stuff while a small truck cannot be used to do the opposite. IMO anything smaller than 50cc is best suited for limbing and light duty clean up work.

Need help picking a new saw

I have 2, Makita DCS5121 (Dolmar PS510) and Dolmar PS-5105 fitted w/ 20" while the Makita has 18. either will serve you well and that .6 hp difference is noticeable especially in hardwood, so don't discount the fraction. Both can be had for considerably lesser than a 261 especially if you...

Stihl 261 or 362 for homeowner

if your cutting needs fall within the limitations of a 50cc saw, 261 is a safer bet than 362. U-tube has a guy (Human is his screen name) who posted a few vid on a 362 with a premature wear on the cylinder which Stihl replaced under warranty. I don't own a 261 but have yet to hear or read about...

Stihl MS440 making a come back?

It could be available somewhere but we won't have access to it in US. Already checked all N. America websites but the 440 is not listed. Could end up as an European or Africa model, eBay anyone?

    Makita DCS 5121

Hell John: I have exact same saw w/ 18" and encountered exact idle issue but took a slightly different approach to resolve it but I think our outcomes are similar. Step 1: I took the muffler apart, examinined closely then tossed the spark arrestor screen. Step 2: tuned the idle speed w/ a tach...

Stihl MS440 making a come back?

while browsing for the upcoming MS462 in Stihl.com which is their international website, I noticed the 440 is now listed under the "Petro Chainsaws for Forestry" again. Does anyone have insights or news on this? If Stihl plan on reviving it my pipe dream may finally come true.

How do I secretly kill a tree?

At my previous house I had repeated plumbing problem which turned out to be a "rooting" issue caused by the numerous hedges, shrubs that run adjacent along side the house. "Root-X" successfully wiped out all unwanted roots and kept them from coming back. The container had instructions on how to...

what are your favorite oregon grinder sharpening angles

I use two type of chains exclusively: Stihl RSF (clean wood) & RMF (dirty condition). RMF being semi-chisel I have been using 60 degree top angle, 35 degree vise angle & 0 degree (no tilt). For RSF full chisel I used 60 top/25 vise with 10 degree tilt. I've gone thru few trial & error...

Best time to buy wood ?

Gents: I have just enough wood to last me thru the winter but next year I'm SOL unless I stock up soon. Should I buy a few cords now or should I wait til spring/summer when the weather warms up ? Locally split Eucalyptus run about 250 per cord & up, would I be able to save some money if...
