    Stihl Paint?

Stihl paint I've had good luck with a very light gray. Seems there white was more gray than white. Or a very light beige if your trying to match a part to a somewhat yellowed vintage saw. Hope this helps. 4000fixed

    Partner S50 no spark ??

s55/s65 ignition Don't forget to trace those wires. Some of these saws, (if electronic) had a nice little module hidden in the front of the rear handle near below the throttle linkage. Most of the repairs I've done on them for no spark was that little guy instead of the coil. Hope this helps...

    8 Pin on Super XL

Super xlao with .325 chain Recently had an old Blue Super XL with a 16" bar, new .325 sprocket nose, with full chisel .325 chain and 8 pin rim. Had it running about 9500, and it did a fantastic job. The speed reminded me of a good running stock 028 Woodboss, except old blue had a few more...

    Race chain

race chain? 400 in 15 years. Yes, 40 degrees. The back being ground off just makes the tooth smaller with a little less drag. I guess the only reason there buying them is that there comparing them to what there using already. Same reason my grandfather traded his Clinton 2 man gear drive in...

    Race chain

Full race chain? not quite. I have to agree with reds quote. The chain I've been grinding for the local guys is by no means any thing close to what your describing as a race chain. But, they are almost twice as fast as a stock chain with out the time involved. Haven't found anyone in my neck...

    Race chain

Grinding race chains/reasonable I've been grinding a simple race chain from stock chain for about 25 years. Safe as possible and fast. With factory drag height, and they are fast. Won't last long in the woods though. No rivet grinding, it is stock as possible. Here are some pics of .404 full...

    J-red, too much compression

J-Red compression Had some of these saws come in the shop years ago. The guys almost couldn't pull them. We installed 2 cylinder gaskets, and never had a come back. :)

    support stihl

Husky vs Stihl Since we're on the subject. I've ran them both, repaired tons of both, and it seems like Husqvarna is a little like General Motors. Every time the wind blows they change something or design something different. Which makes half of there production trial and error, recalls, and...

girly saw I'm a Stihl fan, but I have to agree with space,(sorta). Stihl makes such a well balanced, good feeling, powerful, easy to use saw, that will last like an Army BLk, that it has caused my 13 year old daughter to become addicted to 046 Magnums. :jawdrop: 4000fixed

    Carburettor Testing (Get it Going)

Carb settings saw running The factory uses a digital tach, I use a digital tach. Lately I've found on a new 455 Ranchers that they will run fairly poor under a load when set to 12,400 rpm no load, and run super at 12,900 to 13,200 rpm no load. 30 years of tuning saws and I still can't tell 600...
