028 or 036 Which is Better Made

that is his daily work saw. It was never a race saw. Chad builds log homes in Montana and uses it every day. The saw beats the stock 7900's in the yard. Chad had sent the saw to me to have it bumped up a little hotter than normal. While it was here his wife called me and wanted to have some...

    I'm new here!

Now don't let this guy make it sound all bad. :) There are some good reasons for running skip chain. He is right when he says that the bar is usually too long for the saw. Most pros that I know who run skip do so for a couple of reasons. #1 They do not want to pack around a small car, so...

    Price of Stihl Bar Oil

I was at our local Wal Mart last night getting a shop vac and stopped by just to check the price for this thread. (I usally have my wife pick it up for me) They had 2 cases on the shelf. The poulan stuff is with the saws but the super tech stuff is with the auto oil.

    Price of Stihl Bar Oil

WalMart super tech bar oil (found in the automotive section) $5.19 a gallon. Works as good as any other bar oil I have ever used.

One saw you wished you owned but don't.

A BP-1 in good running condition. I would do some horse trading for one. Mods, other saws in my collection, guns or what ever.

    Practical advice checking crank seals.

all you have to pull is the clutch covers. If there is a vacume leak it will find it's way in there. I use this method because I find it way faster than trying to block behind the carb and muffler.

Nice saw Booker. Is this the same guy that I meet after the GTG?

    Practical advice checking crank seals.

fire it up and let it idle and spray a little starting fluid around the seals. IF you have a leak the engine will die.

    why the kombi system?

the problem with that would be worrying if the rest of the componants could handle the extra power. You know a bar and chain can but what about the drive shafts and such? I think it might get a little clean up , but that would be about all.

    why the kombi system?

I have been looking at this system for a little bit and have decided that my stimulous check will be spent at the local Stihl dealer on the kombi system. I personally think that the real bennifit for the consumer that if you have the system and the power head fails you only have to buy the...

    Beer bottle opened with chainsaw

This is BAD VERY BAD! I can see the little suburban BBQ; every one having a good time. Then after 6 or 8 beers all the boys start talking about toys, how macho they are and who has the biggest (uh umm chainsaw) and then the host whips his out and says: "Watch this!" Now of course every one is...

    Big Bore Kit for 046

you might grap a set of ring compressors from Bailey's while you are at it. They are nice to have. I think they run about $5 and will make the job easier. I am assuming you have the Torx wrench already and if not then you that too.

    Big Bore Kit for 046

no surprises and run it a little rich until it breaks in. You will feel it after 4-8 tanks. They are good kits and an excellent value
