    New Echo CS-490

You're right clockwise! I don't pay much attention to the tach. Just when it sounds right. My 346 turns somewhere near 15000 the way I have it tuned. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    New Echo CS-490

Turn the H screw counterclockwise on the Echo until it sounds like the Husky. You'll hear the RPMs get real fast then back it off a little until you hear a little sputter. Then turn the L screw in small increments until it has the best throttle response. Listen to it during the cut and it...

    New Echo CS-490

The Echo 4 stroked almost the whole way through the cut while the Husky cleaned up in the cut. Not a good comparison IMO. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Doing my morning craigslist check I found a Solo Twin: http://morgantown.craigslist.org/tls/4923328936.html Thought I'd pass it on...

    Crank Bearing Removal (PIC HEAVY)

Well to update the thread the project got thrown under the bench for a while then I got a wild hair and finished it. I didn't take any pictures. Dad has the saw now and it's doing fine. I suck at threads because I work on the road and it may take me months or years to complete a project. I...

What Do You Think Of Putting 3/8 Chain On A 550XP?

Your dealer is an idiot...find a new one. I don't have a 550 but I converted my 346 to 3/8 and it does just fine.

New member need advice on MS360 Pro P&C damage

From what I have seen the piston does not usually have scoring on the side above the wrist pin due to lean seizing. Are you sure it didn't ingest something? Are both wrist pin clips in the piston? I think someone may have had the jug off that saw. I have never seen a green base gasket and the...

Stihl MS 291 burnt out after 1 hr

No one will ever know exactly what happened.... With that being said what I find sickening is the $541 quote to fix the saw. That is more than a brand new 261 that will cut circles around the 291 and is more durable. Dude you need to find a different dealer!

    So, what's your day job?

I came in from the power company property on the paved road. The security guard remembered me and let us ride up there and take some pictures on a Sunday.

    So, what's your day job?

Good eye sir! It sure is. I was there in 2009 to do a rim shrink on U#3 generator rotor. The pics are from 2 years ago when the wife and I were there on the Harley.

    So, what's your day job?

I am a field supervisor for a company that erects, maintains, and repairs hydroelectric turbines and generators. I was a field welder for 10 years for the same company before accepting an supervisor's position last year. It is definitely a rewarding career and I have had the opportunity to...

    what grinds your gears guys

The worst are people at the grocery store that don't put there carts back in the return. This just happened recently, an entire family (mom, dad, and 2 kids) came out of Wal-Mart with a cart full of groceries unloaded them and shoved the cart in an empty parking place next to my wife's brand new...

    I'm sure y'all don't care but I'm excited!

I bought an unlimited coil for mine but I haven't put it on. I don't have too much trouble tuning it with my tach though.

    I'm sure y'all don't care but I'm excited!

They have a limited coil but I can't recall what it's limited to. It's been a while since I had a tach on mine. I broke my leg back in September and I haven't ran it since early this summer.

    I'm sure y'all don't care but I'm excited!

Here'e mine after I got it back from Mastermind. This was with an 8 pin and I'm pushing the hell out of it. It's actually a little faster with a 7 pin on it. It'll be worth the wait!

    Stihl 032AV

40:1 shouldn't hurt any of your old saws. Honestly before I found this forum I always ran the orange bottle Stihl oil at 50:1 and never had any problems. After reading through numerous oil threads here and seeing some bottom end bearing failures I started running 40:1 synthetic oil in all my...

    Stihl 032AV

It will be fine to run it with 40:1 mix with a quality oil. There is no difference inside the saw. The quality of oil that was available when these old saws were made was not as good as what we have available today so they required more oil. You may have to re-tune the carb when you change the mix.

    Mythology 101

Saw Troll I agree the 372xp should be compared to the MS441 but what exactly do you compare the MS362 to in that lineup? I don't see a 357xp or a 562xp in there. The 346xp could be compared to the MS260 or MS261 since they were produced during that same time period. I'm not hopping aboard the...
