    climbing easy

My my my---someone get me some aloe Vera---apparently I've been burned! Tree freak; I often sing the praises of small, lightweight portable climbing aides such as gri gri's, slings and carabiners micro- pulleys etc.... And it is trueI am most fond of the Sidekick as the older I get the...

    climbing easy

Used to rely on pruner pole but stiff heavy and awkward to move around with in a tree---when dropped a hazard to anyone below. This Sidekick gizmo much, much better. Less than a pound so can be used with just one hand (I like that)---and is only 27-28 inches collapsed and attached to climbing...

But my favorite: a telescoping Rope retriever called the Sidekick that telescopes From 27 inches to nine ft. weighs less than a pound and attaches to saddle. climbing advice

I'm getting older but when I climb now I don't leave the ground without the rope placement and retrieval tool called the sidekick that I have found invaluable in placing ropes (precisely where you need them) to effect an effecient, safer take down. also great for establishing secondary tie-in...

    Christmas climbing

Been wondering what to get my rec-tree buddies and gal friends for Christmas. Working over the catalogs have settled on a few nice (useful) things such as slings, carabiners, micro-pulleys and my favorite aide in setting alternate TIP points and retrieving ropes up to 10-12 ft. away, the...

    newbie advice

30 plus yrs. as a climber. advice: Don't look down unless securely tied in---preferably with two lines (up-line and a short lanyard)---don't try and be a 'cowboy', always swinging out on the dead limbs or spars trusting to luck (luck always runs out). Imagine the worse case scenario before...

    Jamboree rules

About climbing jamborees----Are there any rules that exclude (aides/accessories) that greatly increase the ease, speed and efficentcy of a 'competition' climb such as assenders, throw cords, short lanyards and now these various rope retrieval devices such as the Sidekick? Obviously they won't...

Hey everybody new member sayin hi and needing advice

useful tool Dude, wish I had discovered the tool called the Sidekick when I was starting out. You might do well to get one as it dramatically increases safety aloft as well as efficientcy/productivity. equals more $$/hr. Also slings and beans combined with micro pulley's. All pretty cheap.

    rope retrievers

pruner pole too bulky---any better way to retrieve ropes? free up small hangers, stuck throw pouches/monkey fists etc....? The pole just wears me out and moving it around with me in a canopy is a chore.

    Angry

Makes me angry that the entire industry seems to be turning away from climbing skills for the comfort of heavy equipment bucket trucks,spider-lifts etc... Whatever happened to the days when a man was known as a 'climber'. A SKILL that must be developed over many years of trial and error and...
