Rayco 1620 JR steer tire size needed

Hey all. I have a 1620 JR that needs a new steer tire. The old one is so worn out I can't quite read the size on it. Looks like 4.10x3.50x4 but I can't really tell. Could be a 5 wheel size. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks, Ben.

Lanyard to set big shot trigger

Here's one I made a few years ago. Just some supplies I had around the shop.

1997 GMC 7500 65' any input from current or previous owners?

At least it's an Altec. Get someone who knows bucket trucks to look at it. There are hundreds of very expensive problems that are not visible to the untrained eye. Rotation bearing will be close to 10k if it has slack.

Dealing with crap at work -- literally

Homeowners wouldn't want dog crap all around their desk at their job. I ask them during the estimate if they want to remove it or pay us to. They always say they will then when we show up it's never done. It's written on the estimate if it's not removed when we pull up it's $100 extra.

    Switching gaffs

They can get hard to remove over time if they've never been out. Might soak them in diesel overnight. Or try heating the bolts and letting them cool a couple times. I'm assuming since they're Klein that they're steel shank. Aluminum shank wouldn't handle as much heat.

Has anyone had their firewood kiln dried?

Never thought about it but if someone wanted to pay to run our kiln it doesn't matter what's in it, the price is the same. They'd have to load and unload it if it isn't't on a trailer or if we didn't have some way to set it in there with the tractor.

    Grass damage

I had a call for an estimate years ago. He wanted a huge tree removed but didn't even want us walking on his grass much less using any kind of equipment. Back yard and no way to use a crane from the driveway. Also didn't want a crane on his driveway. I told him he'd have to hire a helicopter...

    Homemade wood lathe tools

Harbor Freight has a little box of hss metal lathe bits for about $5. I use them for ferro rod strikers. They would probably make good bits if you could attach them to a handle. There are 5 in each box and they're about 3 inches long...

Dealing with lack of swivel on Rope Runner Pro

I also use a ring. Never given me any trouble. Could use Petzl Rollclip Z if you only wanted one connector.

    75ft elevator forestry truck stability?

Yeah. All wheel drive Autocar. It's too big for a lot of jobs though. I mainly use the smaller trucks.

    75ft elevator forestry truck stability?

It's a rear mount. When the elevator is up it's right behind the cab.

    75ft elevator forestry truck stability?

Never used one with only 2 outriggers. My 100 ft has four outriggers and an elevator. It's as sturdy with the elevator up as it is down. I have seen pics where buckets with 2 outriggers has turned over towards the front but I don't know the story. May have went down in the mud or been bad...

    Best way to decend ddrt?

The Pro isn't much bigger than the original if any. It is beefier. It works great for Ddrt. If I were to do an entire climb Ddrt I probably go back to the Hitch Climber setup though. It stays oriented better if you're walking around with slack in your system. I've been wanting to try the ZigZag...

    Best way to decend ddrt?

Safebloc on an Ultra Sling is my go to for rigging. Use it 95 percent of the time. Midline attachable doesn't mean much to me. I usually set my rigging and leave it unless I have to move it. I use the Rope Runner Pro for almost every climb. Even Ddrt. A small telescoping rope hook is invaluable.

Convert Flippy Caps To Old Style Caps

Why don't they just offer both types? After the flippy cap saws stopped selling they might understand. Every big business has a team of "problem solvers" who are paid to solve problems that don't exist. They have to invent problems so they can solve them in order to keep their jobs. With Stihls...

Nails and fencing embedded in trees.

We have a pretty good White metal detector for the sawmill. It only detects to about 8 inches in wood. If it's a questionable log we'll run it over the log after every few boards. We'll still hit something every once in a while. We usually discard the first 8 ft of any questionable tree. Most...
