    Best methods for splitting firewood

Splitting wood with an axe is hard on your body and also quite dangerous once you get tired. I hurt my foot once quite bad while splitting and have given the axe a nice retirement spot in the attick since then. Got myself a small size 6Ton mobile hydraulic splitter driven by electric motor...

How to start an argument? Future of gas powered saws ?

Gas saws is for stubborn oldtimers like myself. But the future is electric, no doubt about it. In not so distant future, I predict gas (loud) saws will no longer be allowed for use by non-professionals in populated areas. :(

Stihl MS 291 burnt out after 1 hr

A friend brought in his saw with the same result.... Low hour saw, but he told me ran the saw very hard on dry wood for a hour or so. seems that this saw is particularly sensitive to heat ...

    Another bad MS361 Ignition Module?

Yep, needed to change the coil on my 361 as well, after fairly low hours. It seems to be a weak component of the 361. Replaced it with an aftermarket one and it has run top since then. Took me a while though to find out that the coil was the culprit. The spark plug would fire when tested...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Actually I believe it's for grinding a ditch in the soil for cable laying or irrigation tubes, not for stump grinding. Since we have now wolves again in our area, it could be used as well for installing wolf proof fencing, that needs to be dug into the ground to a certain depth. @ Mark ...

    Shindaiwa 446S Score

I've become a real shindaiwa fan for small handheld equipment : their trimmers and hedge cutters are on par with Stihl quality imo. Very reliable engines. And you can get them relatively cheap second hand....but parts are very expensive over here. I paid 150€ for a 'as new" 446S and can only...

People don't yet take battery operated chainsaws seriously.

As soon as electric cars will reach a sustainable market share, the government will raise the tax level on gas or diesel to unprecedented levels, and that will force you to go electrical. Electricity also will become very expensive as well, because of the generation and distribution cost...

People don't yet take battery operated chainsaws seriously.

if you look at the trends with leading garden equipement manfufacturers, you'll notice that electric power equipment is the way to go for the future. Many landscaping firms and arborisst over here are switching to full electric, except for some big chainsaws required for the logging/bucking...

firewood cutting with a bad back

another back patient here and cutting firewood also. I will get down often on my knees for bucking or wood loading to save my back. And when limbing, I'll take the lightest saws in my stable : the MS200 and Shindaiwa 251. and I take my time.. Wild days are long gone.... and it works also.
