    Took down another Ash!

Yea, EAB stays just under the bark. I've been dropping ash trees on my property all year. No end in sight. If it's not dead now it will be. You can see them get thinner each year with less and less leaves. At least it's good firewood.

Have you ever seen this type of splitter?

Lots of manufacturers make them. I've never used one but sure looks like a time saver.

    Damper question

Yep, same one EE, 28-3500 Englander. Puts out alot of heat but blows thru the wood if you don't damper it some.

    Damper question

I installed a damper above my add-on on the 6" singlewall. The chimney itself is @ 30' of 6" triple wall. It draws extremely well. With the damper wide open it blows through the wood. Luckliy I'm able to see the fire through the window on my stove and choke it down. It's a fine line between too...

How do you start your indoor fire?

Yeah, mine needs relit once or twice a week. I rake the coals to the middle, place a split log down each side and a flat split over the two logs. I throw 3 wood shims (find tons of them on the job) on the coals and open the ash door. Takes a minute for the shims to catch and I'm done.

    November 1st, 1-year anniversary

Yep, I'm in the same boat with you. I can go a year on @ 400 gallons of propane. I have a tankless waterheater (LP) and a couple times a year run a Reznor (hanging LP furnace) in my uninsulated barn. The boys get cold during poker night! Money out the window no doubt. If I run across a free...

    Help moving OWB

I'm sure an expert will chime in, but it sounds like you need a check valve of some sort. I would think there is a better way than raising the vent pipe. I'm sure someone has dealt with this before. JMO, Good luck

    Ordered Propane

So in 2 years and 8 months you've used only 20% of your propane. You currently have 60%. Your tank filled to it's max will only read @ 80%. At your current rate it should last at least 5 more years. (I know you need at least 5-10% minimum to work) Why would you buy any right now? I've been...

    Outdoor Boiler tipping!

Sounds a little late for a proper footing. Dig out under the low side and slip a bottle jack in there. Raise it up and shovel some gravel around it and remove the jack. Or leave the jack, you'll probably need it again. (Get a chep one from harbor freight) Good luck
