    What happened to Saw Troll

First, it is extremely important how that war turns out, so that the Russian bully methods doesn't pay off, and the Russian military capasity is reduced as much as possible. Secondly, as a retired Army offiser, I am interested in military operations, both historical ones and "current" ones -...

    What happened to Saw Troll

Hello, I still am alive, there isn't anything wrong except for the health issues that keeps me from using chainsaws made my interests change, and I'm rather busy elsewhere - as my interests eventually changed accordingly. I will try to pop in a bit more often in the future, but at the moment...

question is 61 and 262xp have same piston ring

The 261 piston is dished - writing domed was a mistake (and soon corrected in a comment to my post).

7 tooth vs. 8 tooth sprocket

To avoid the "Mini" spline size basically (for .325), for the stated reason (cost and sometimes availability of Stihl branded rims). For the "Standard" 7-spline rims it doesn't matter - my comment was about "Small" 7-spline (Oregon) vs. "Mini" 7-spline (Stihl). If you want to run 3/8" lo-pro...

Book of Knowledge on dating husky saws?

The head gear reminds me of Witchy when cutting in the yard at the cottage - but the rest of the outfit doesn't.

Saw Chains- Oregon 91VXL055G vs. Carlton N1C-055G???

Not exactly what I'm known for on here (rather the opposite) - but both is wrong. I simply go with what I like (or not), regardless of brand.

Saw Chains- Oregon 91VXL055G vs. Carlton N1C-055G???

Sounds like a plausible story - but a lot of people still missed the ol' VX when VXL replaced it. Imo, this all is a moot point after Stihl came out with chisel chain in 3/8" lo-pro (Picco) though.

The big question is what is real, and what is not....

Saw Chains- Oregon 91VXL055G vs. Carlton N1C-055G???

There has been complaints about the long cutters of the VXL on some forums though, as they allegedly create some sort of issue when used on certain bar/drive sprocket combinations. I no longer recall the details though (this was a few years ago, on a UK forum mainly).

Saw Chains- Oregon 91VXL055G vs. Carlton N1C-055G???

As I recall it, Blount owned both Oregon, Carlton and Windsor for a while before being bought up themselves - and some hybrids, brand name swapping (on the SpeedTip bars) etc. came out of that. I'm not sure that the VXL came out of this though, or if it happened earlier?

    Husqvarna 61 date of manufacture

Yes, 1991 week 42, saw number 430 that week.

    Husqvarna 162 61 262 266 268 272 parts interchangeable?

It is, but the topic always will be relevant, as it is about one of the best saw models ever made..

    Husqvarna 162 61 262 266 268 272 parts interchangeable?

You got it right about the "154 family", that the 262xp belongs to.

    HUSQVARNA CHAINSAW MODEL ID

The oldest IPL (that I know of) for the 181SE is from May 1982, and the model was a topic of "Chain Saw Age" in July 1982.

    HUSQVARNA CHAINSAW MODEL ID

It looks like a 181 to me - and they definitely made that model in 1983. I suggest that you measure the bore of the cylinder.

    Grease fitting for bar sprocket

That's an important "unless"! The only thing that could make me start greasing a bar nose would be a combination of a really long bar and a too lean oiler (for said bar).

    Identify husqvarna 268XP?

I agree. A 268 made that early (before some time in early 1991 as I recall it) certainly was a 268xp when it left the factory, and this one appears to still be. No other 268 model (except the xpg of course) was made that early.

    That simply is not true.

Book of Knowledge on dating husky saws?

The "cutoff" time was supposed to be 1986 and before vs. 1987 and on. It mostly happened exactly that way, but I have seen one or two mistakes made very close to the cutoff time. Also, this doesn't apply to saws made at the Tomos factory in Yugoslavia/Slovenia. This might be relevant if the saw...

Book of Knowledge on dating husky saws?

That only is true with 7 digit numbers, after some time in 1984. Saws made from some time in 1982 (as I recall it - but if it is there you'll see it) up to that time in 1984 at least usually have the full year on the tag, separate from the serial numbers - and I have found no way to date Husky...
