I am going to have to start buying wood this way as well because of the growth of our business. What kind of price should I look to pay for a full tri ak load of low grade hardwoods? We are in the state of WV. I have heard anywhere from $300-500.

Sounds like what your talking about is "upside down skid skid model". We sell these in 20ton on e-bay for $1195 but off e-bay we can sell them for 100-200 less. And by the way the upside down model is the one we sell the most of. In general they cost a little more that POT models.

If you do decide to buy one and want a quite one because of the neighborhood you need to know there is very powerful electric models on the market today. You can get a 16ton for around 1200 and a 20ton for around 1600.

I saw that as well and thought northerntool was the manufacturer. Then I saw a company called safewholesale.com that had them. This would suggest there is a 3rd party who is the manufacturer to me.

see this thread has slowed down some but business has kept up here. We did a record day here on last saturday. The guy on the road left and business is back to normal. My hats off to anyone that does bundled firewood there is alot of work to it.

If it were me I would try and find someone to bid with that wanted the saw logs. This way you would not have as much to get and could likely get the lower grade stuff very very cheap.

My best set up is the 8hp, 16gpm 2 stage pump and a 4inch cylinder. This will produce a very fast and powerful cycle of under 10seconds and around 25tons.

I do bundles and a few other things. I did a llc. You can write stuff off and you do not carry the liability. May not be best for you but I would at least look into the LLC.

I would look into the quality of the splitter. We sell new ones american made quality ones for a few hundred more than that. If it is in good shape and good brand it is likely a good deal though.

wood doc is correct location is very important. Our place is next to a major resort and we sometimes sell more than 15o bundles in one day.

We have sold bundles for a few years now and do ok but it is alot of work. You may try adding a fire starter in your bundle to get more people. One thing we do for campgrounds is offer free adv. on some of our web sites and refer people to them locally.
