Grapple truck is VERY MUCH loved now!!

A normal grapple truck w/ 24 cubic yard body on a 33,000 gvw truck usually weighs about 23,000 lbs empty, so you would have 10,000 lbs haul capacity. 10,000 lbs is enough for your average tree care company to handle removals. Sounds like you're hauling logs though, so needed to be heavier...

    Fast growing Bamboo

growing more bamboo I think I have a clumping type bamboo. I read this whole thing on the net about how to make cuttings to grow and it completely failed. Although the soil was moist the cuttings died within like a week. Anyone know how to propagate bamboo?

which outrigger pad for concrete driveways?

Just a note, equipment ratings are often set with the outriggers fully extended and the front tires off of the ground. I know this to be true at least with grapple trucks, but not for sure on other wheeled loaders. Just keep in mind that by not fully extending your outriggers you are reducing...

which outrigger pad for concrete driveways?

Outrigger pads John, The first thing to do if make sure that your actual outrigger feet are as big as possible so that the weight is distributed over a wider suface. We use the bumpers from unloading docs as outrigger pads if people request something extra. Here's a link so that you can...

    Will concrete effect soil PH?

The thing that throws me off here is that sandspurs seem to thrive in this spot. If the lime and whatever concrete may have ended up there changed the Ph to more basic, then it should inhibit the growth of sandspurs right? They always say to apply lime to get rid of sandspurs because they like...

    Will concrete effect soil PH?

Planting a garden behind the factory here and have run into a lot of lime rock type material and what seems to be the remains of concrete from them washing off construction equipment. Is this going to cause a PH problem? Assuming that the lime rock is ok since it isn't actually elemental...

    CDL question

They can make trucks that have a GVWR that requires a CDL and down rate them by putting on tires that limit the load capacity and call it "Non-CDL". Probibly what's happened here. We manfacture grapple trucks and see this a lot especially coming out of AL and MS. As for believing the yellow...

    poison ivy

Bleach?! Are you kidding? Burts bees used to make some sort of poison ivy bar soap that may be handy for you guys to just carry in the truck just in case. Don't know if it really works though.

    Clean up

Buy a grapple truck so that you don't have to deal with trailering stuff around all the time.

fruit won't set on dwarf washington navel

Something's stressing your tree, but I can't tell what since it sounds like you're doing everything else right. My husband was a citrus major in college and he says you're S.O.L., and that the tree is only supposed to lose 2% of the fruit, not 100%. This doesn't mean that your problem can't be...

Does the used setup that you're looking at include a grapple? Have you gotten any quotes on how much a new grapple would cost you?

    beatles killed neighbor's pine

Well, I know it's not a longleaf pine, or a sand pine, but not sure if it's a shortleaf. It's just one of the really common pines that they grow down here for timber. I sure hope you're right though and it's the kind that's supposed to have holes. Really like my tree. It's kinda ugly but...

    Uh-oh!

Yep, I saw the creepy face with the eyes slanting off to one side. Looks like he has a big wart on his cheek too like the wicked witch of the west. Not something that I would have noticed though. Stop looking at your bandaids when you take them off and you'll be fine.

    beatles killed neighbor's pine

there are little holes in the bark of my tree, but not sure if they're from beetles. I'll go look around it this afternoon and take some pictures. I do think my tree is at risk. It never seemed to recover fully from the stress of the hurricanes. As for them not cutting down the whole...

    beatles killed neighbor's pine

One of my neighbors 2 doors down has a pine tree that was killed by those borer beatles. The pine tree in my yard isn't looking so good either. How do I know if it has the beatles? If so, is there anything that I can do? Also, there are quite a few people in the neighborhood who just cut...

Master of The Chainsaw carves a bear

great thread. I'm always amazed by sculptors. I just can't see things in 3D before they're done. It's one thing to sculpt in clay where you're adding on, but it's really impressive when people sculpt in wood where you have to take away. Great bear.

    Who has a dodge powerwagon?

They are unstoppable. We used to have one. Just sold it about 5 years ago. Went like the first week we put it out by the road. Used to keep it up at our beach place because it did so well on the unpaved sugar sand roads, but so many drunks would show up in the middle of the night wanting...
