You all need to recycle your carburetor based chainsaws and get the 500i

Wonderful saw to work with this 500i. The 462 is even better, a bit faster and a bit lighter. Both great saws to work with in stock form because any mods will not do much for them. In stock form, a 661 seems to be the same as those two but do a simple MM to it and be amazed. Cut that baffle off...

    Ms 651/661 difference

Interesting. That could be verified by checking the part number of the gasket.

    Ms 651/661 difference

Hi guys. Can someone tell me what is the real difference between the 651 and the 661 Stihl saws? The engine seems to be the same, 91cc. Maybe some carb or ignition difference, what do you guys know? I can't find any ipl to compare the part numbers. Thanks!

Handmade felling dogs for a Stihl 462

Thanks! It's a good idea. I was inspired by the west coast felling dogs but added a fourth spike, it's safer when cutting small diameter logs that can be pulled by the chain and hit the front end of the saw. The west coast dogs are not available in my country anyway so I had to make something...

Handmade felling dogs for a Stihl 462

I made a set of felling dogs from a 16" tablesaw blade. High carbon steel, 2.6mm thick. A few good hours of cutting, drilling and hand filing but the result makes me happy. What do you guys think, how do they look?

    Chainsaw bar heat damage?

That is a heat treatment along the rails. Scrape the paint of a new Rollomatic E bar and see for yourself. The ES bars have a superior steel with molybdenum and don't need a heat treatment so you won't find any blue line along their rails.

    Husky cases

The jonsereds are basically the same saws as husky. The 2171 jonsered is the old 372xp corespondent. I don't think that the 371 and 372xp share the same cases though. I know that they are a bit different inside the crank the but I might be wrong, just do a further research.

    Husqvarna 435

I did a light port job on it, timing advance and a MM. Used it with a 13'' b&c and the saw rips. Do it !

    2-Stroke Mix Oil

I use Stihl hp ultra.I've used Motul 800 road racing and off road. For stock saws, the Motul off road is better than the Road racing. The last one is better for hotsaws, it won't burn in a stock saw. These are the best oils around here. Watch hotsaws' 101 video on Youtube. Sent from my SM-G950F...

    why chrome???

From what I know, nikasil is more expensive.Don't know about longevity but in terms of performance I heard it's better. The nikasil is more elastic than chrome, less chance to chip. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

    why chrome???

Why are they still using chrome plating instead of nikasil, aren't we paying enough money for these saws?Chrome seems like a cheap way to go. Oh...these are the specs for the 462,not an old 041 Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Anyone come across DL count on bar to be wrong?

the bar may be fitted with a different nose, like a 3/8 sprocket nose Try a 3/8 chain on the nose and see if it fits. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
